The President has the power to order troops into the US under the powers provided by the Insurrection Act. Several presidents have used this to quell riots in the US. If President Trump was A Democrat I would not be writing this article, because it wouldn’t be an issue. Several of our multi- star generals were against the order as well as several cabinet members. President Trump never deployed the troops he ordered them in reserve mainly to protect the Capital. He did bring in the National Guard to protect our national monuments and treasures. When he took these steps several major cities were being overrun by rioters. The police were not able to handle the problem, either from poor execution or being hamstrung by mayors and governors. Can you imagine the loss to this country and the world if Washington DC had been overrun by looters. The Mayor of DC should be ashamed of herself. This is not about ego or political partisanship, this is about preserving our heritage.
I guess these multi-star generals forgot about rules of engagement. You always have troops in reserve in case your line is overwhelmed by the enemy, or you need to protect your supply lines or for any number of other reasons. The troops ordered were never deployed as I already stated, they have already been ordered back to there bases. Apparently President Trump knows more about the military then do the generals themselves. They also were insubordinate, they should have discussed there concerns first before they held press conferences with the press. His action also kick started several of the governors to order there National Guard. These actions were instrumental in quelling the riots. Those states that refused to do so suffered greater damage to property and injuries to there citizens.
People should be happy that President took these actions. We would probably still have the rioting going on.
