I have written several articles on postings related to politicians. A list of links have been provided at bottom of this article for your convenience. This article will, however address different aspects on these politicians.

Andrew Cuomo is an Democratic Politician, author and lawyer serving since 2011 as the 56th Governor of New York State. His father Mario Cuomo also served three terms as governor of New York. Andrew was born in New York City. He graduated from Fordham University and Albany Law School. He married Kerry Kennedy in 1990, and divorced in 2005. He is the father of three daughters.

After he graduated from law school he became a campaign manager for his father. He than served as District Attorney in NYC before practicing law in his own law practice. He was chair of the New York City Homeless Commission from 1990-1993. In 1993 he served as an Assistant Secretary in the US Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) under the Clinton Administration. During his tenure as HUD Secretary he called for an increase in home ownership. He also pushed for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to enable more minorities to become home owners. He pushed for home loans for everybody despite their ability to make the payments. This quite possibly lead to the subprime mortgage crisis in 2007-2010. In 2006 he was elected Attorney General of New York. In 2007 he was involved in a student loan inquiry where students were steered into higher interest loans. In 2008 he forced three internet providers to shut down there Usenet groups which were known for child pornography. In 2009 he investigated a corruption scandal involving the taking of kick backs by Securities and Exchange Commission Employees and Attorney Generals in several states. In 2010 he became Governor of New York.

As governor, Cuomo oversaw the passage of the Marriage Equality Act in 2011, which legalized same-sex marriage. In 2014 he passed the Compassionate Care Act, legalizing medical marijuana. In response to the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting he signed the NY SAFE Act of 2013, the strictest gun control law in the US. He delivered Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care Act. In 2017 he called for the end of cash bail for minor crimes, which basically started a revolving door policy for many criminals. In 2018 , he signed the anti-sex trafficking bill. In 2019 he passed legislation that included the expansion of abortion in NY.

In 2020, he has received praise from many epidemiologists for his handling of the Covid-19 Pandemic. However, he has been the hot seat for failing to respond sooner, and for his roll in sending positive covid patients into Nursing Homes, especially when he had nearly empty emergency structures built by the Army Corps of Engineers that could have handled them instead. This resulted in the deaths of thousands of elderly New Yorkers. Especially since they were built with this express purpose in mind. He is also criticized in his poor handling of NYC Covid response and his relationship with Mayor de Blasio.

Despite his many shortcomings and lack initiative in many crises, he is highly regarded by many New York Residents. This is in part related to his frequent press conferences and the favorable coverage given by the Press.
