I have written several articles on our Presidential candidate Biden and President Biden. A list of the links have been provided at the bottom of this article for your convenience. This article will, however address different aspects on Biden’s presidency.

How can one person be so incompetent and wrong in every decision that he makes and still be elected to the office of President of the U.S.? One of the fundamental responsibilities of the President of the United States is to define foreign policy. This involves, among other areas, acting as Commander in Chief of the armed forces, advocating for the United States by forming relationships with other nations and organizations, and enacting the nation’s high-level strategy on the world stage.

Former Defense Secretary Robert Gates recently made a statement that Joe Biden has been wrong about “nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades.” So I have included below a list of some of his foibles.

Biden’s Foreign policy history

• Biden opposed Ronald Reagan’s Strategic Defense Initiative, which is credited for aiding the collapse of the Soviet Union and the end of the Cold War.
• Biden was one of the first legislators to support the bombing of Serbia in the 1990s and advocate for the Bosnian Muslims to be armed, which yielded disastrous results.
• Biden voted against the Gulf War in 1991, in which “the United States and a broad multinational coalition quickly achieved their goals.”
• In 2002, he voted in support of the war against Iraq, and in 2003 said “I voted to go into Iraq, and I’d vote to do it again.” We should note that he now claims he opposed it from the start.
• Joe Biden opposed the raid which resulted in the death of Osama bin Laden, saying “Mr. President, my suggestion is, don’t go.” We should note that Biden now claims to have played a key role in the move.
• Biden bolstered the drone war, which involved hundreds of strikes in Pakistan, Yemen, Libya, and other countries, and resulted in hundreds of civilian casualties.

So is it any surprise that Biden — the man President Obama selected to bolster his foreign policy and national security experience — oversaw the collapse of Afghanistan in a matter of weeks?

The concern now grows beyond the terrible events unfolding in Afghanistan toward the ability of the American electorate to make basic decisions based on easily available information.

Joe Biden’s history of stupidity on the world stage was glistening in the sun for all to see. During his time as vice president alone, the world descended into chaos, with ISIS emerging from the Middle Eastern void of power created by the Obama administration’s policies.

The writing was on the wall, and yet people voted for Biden anyway.

Voting has consequences, and as we watch the descent of Afghanistan into hellish tyranny in real-time, those who voted for Biden — despite the almost certain catastrophic results which would follow — should remember this mistake when 2024 comes around.

When Biden assumed the position of President 7 months ago, the dominant narrative in the news media was that the election of Joe Biden meant that the “adults” and “professionals” were now back in charge of U.S. foreign policy after four years of dangerous, amateurish behavior by Donald Trump and his appointees. Events are proving otherwise. Several early Biden administration actions should sound alarm bells with both Congress and the American people. The only question is whether those missteps reflect incompetence or arrogance.

One troubling sign occurred even before Biden took the oath of office. He invited Taiwan’s de facto ambassador to the United States to attend his inauguration, the first time that honor had been given since the United States switched diplomatic relations to the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in 1979. Not even Trump or George W. Bush, who were staunch supporters of Taiwan, did anything that bold to show disdain for Beijing’s position. The gesture got the new administration’s relations with the PRC off to a frosty start. It seems unlikely that Biden and his advisers were unaware of how Xi Jinping’s government would react. However, if that’s the case, the only other explanation is that they knew it was a provocation but did not care. Either version is worrisome.

Biden and his foreign policy team have made some other questionable moves that impact U.S.-China relations. In his first telephone conversation with Japan’s new prime minister, Yoshihide Suga, Biden reiterated that the mutual defense treaty between the two countries covers the uninhabited Senkaku island chain, which China also claims. In late February, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby escalated matters when he stated that Washington supported Japan’s “sovereignty” over the Senkakus. His comment signaled a significant shift in U.S. policy. Washington’s official position has been that while the United States would resist any use of force to end Tokyo’s administration of the islets, it did not take any position regarding the merits of the territorial dispute itself. Kirby’s statement put the United States on record as endorsing Tokyo’s claim, and he had to beat a retreat the next day with a “clarification” reaffirming the established policy. Such a chaotic performance does not inspire confidence.

Recent events have caused alarm even within the Democratic party

East Asia is not the only arena in which the new administration’s behavior has been unsettling. In late February, the White House ordered air strikes against Syria because pro‐​Iranian militias had conducted attacks on U.S. military installations in neighboring Iraq. Two aspects of that decision promptly drew criticism. First, the president approved the bombing raids without consulting Congress, basing his alleged authority on a wildly expansive interpretation of the 2001 Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF) against Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups following the 9–11 attacks. Biden’s move generated immediate criticism, including from Democrats in Congress, who rejected the notion that the AUMF covered air strikes two decades later on a country that had no connection whatever with 9/11. The administration’s decision to use military force without any coordination with the president’s own party in Congress indicated either an arrogant embrace of the imperial presidency or sheer clumsiness.

Another aspect of the decision was worse. Even though Russia has a sizable military presence in Syria to support President Bashar al-Assad’s beleaguered regime in that country’s civil war, the United States apparently gave Moscow only four‐​to‐​five minutes advance notice. Such an extremely short period could have led to a dangerous incident. Russian personnel help operate Syria’s air defense system, and one can readily imagine the reaction if an American plane had been shot down during the raid. Another, even greater, risk is that the attack could have killed Russian military personnel who did not have time to take adequate shelter. It was a needless peril that could have been—and should have been—avoided. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov complained bitterly about Washington’s conduct. The episode certainly did nothing to soothe already acrimonious U.S.-Russia relations.

The Biden administration’s initial foreign policy performance has been not merely unimpressive, but alarming. If this boorish amateurism is what America can expect from supposedly experienced professionals, the United States is in for a rough ride over the next four years.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) called President Joe Biden “the most incompetent national security president in modern history” considering that a record 212,000 illegal immigrants entered the United States in July, coupled with “the debacle in Afghanistan.”

“So much for the idea that there would be a ‘seasonal downturn’ in illegal immigrant crossings at our southern border!” Graham said in a statement, referring to the Biden administration’s explanation for record numbers of migrants apprehended at the border.

“In July there were over 212,000 illegal immigrants who came into the country – and that’s not counting those who got away. Only God knows how many we missed,” he said. “The men and women of the Border Patrol are heroes who are being asked to do the impossible.

“Between the crisis at the border and the debacle in Afghanistan, one could argue that President Biden is the most incompetent national security president in modern history,” Graham said. “The only thing worse than being incompetent is being stubborn to the point that you can’t look at the facts and change your mind when necessary.

“When it comes to the border and situation in Afghanistan, the worst is yet to come,” the senator predicted.

Who-rah for “Bozo” Biden for killing tens of thousands of good paying jobs in the energy sector on day one. As I predicted, fuel prices are on the rise. I guess Bozo can now divert already allocated wall money and give it to Dr. “YoYo” Fauci to find a way to harvest the COVID-19 and attach it to a solar panel in order to operate the rubber band being installed on “Marine-One” helicopter. I’m sure that would appease Crazy AOC and John Kerry’s idea of the Green New Deal.

Dr. YoYo appears to change his mind on 19 more than a change of underwear. One can clearly see he is controlled by the “Job Killers” now residing in the Oval Office. By the way,the propaganda media (CNN, MSNBC, etc.) are going Lady GaGa over the two dogs and a cat now in the White House. One must be a lap dog named “Mutt” (after Romney).

The COVID is here and now on the decline in most states, including Utah, so why not do away with the China made masks that may be laced enough to keep us sick and in fear. Gov. Cox needs to take pages from South Dakota, Florida, Iowa, and Texas and quit playing the game.

Reflect on President Trump’s question during his campaign speech to minority groups. He asked “What have you good folks got to lose by voting for me?” They did and their lives were greatly improved over decades of voting for the Dems who kept them under their thumbs.

The question I have to you is, “If we get rid of the China/Biden COVID condoms, what do we have to lose?” Those states that have allowed their citizens free agency to wear or not to wear are doing just fine. Those of us who have other underlying noncontagious heath issues have a hard time wearing masks.

Biden is so incompetent he probably couldn’t set a mousetrap without getting in it himself. It’s clear he suffers from C.R.S. — can’t remember stuff (substitute word). That’s exactly what “Kooky” Harris and Pampous Pelosi want so they can take over.

Harris is the shady one we really need to keep a close eye on. She’s the real danger to our democracy.

Joe Biden probably doesn’t want to “destroy America in order to save it.” If he did want to do that, though, and if he knew what he were doing, he would be doing exactly what he’s doing now.

For the long-term health of the U.S., Biden’s first four months in office have been among the most destructive of my lifetime.

Already, Biden is creating a legacy of labor shortages, a border crisis, dangerous debt, massive inflationary pressures, leftist cultural warfare, racial divisiveness, rising crime, and feckless foreign policy. And while the past week’s gasoline shortages due to a ransomware attack aren’t his fault (except at the margins), his ongoing failure to hold Russia’s Vladimir Putin accountable could serve as encouragement for similar future attacks.

Multiple columns could be written on each of the subjects above. And fairness compels recognition that some of these ills already were growing under former president Donald Trump, some due to his direct policy choices. Yet even in those cases, Biden’s actions and efforts already have gone well beyond Trump’s spendthrift, divisive folly.

Suffice it to say that an already debt-ridden nation shouldn’t be pushing for $6 trillion of new spending in which things unrelated to coronavirus relief are called coronavirus relief, things having nothing to do with infrastructure are labeled “infrastructure,” along with an American Family Plan that would undermine the family. Likewise, promising free health care for illegal immigrants while trying to ban deportations and supporting “sanctuary cities” for criminal immigrants is an obvious means of exacerbating the border crisis Biden directly catalyzed.

Meanwhile, pushing anti-American, racist garbage on all American public schools, using constitutionally dubious means, all while stressing racial and gender identity politics in every conceivable way, Biden threatens to turn the official U.S. motto on its head. By repeatedly emphasizing and exacerbating differences instead of celebrating commonality, Biden’s team is turning E pluribus unum (“out of many, one”) into its opposite, Ex uno plures (“out of one, many”). It is a direct renunciation of the American tradition from Ben Franklin to Martin Luther King, Jr., and it’s a moral outrage.

The effect of all this, intentional or not — and for at least a few hard leftists in the Biden administration, it may indeed be intentional, even if not from Biden himself — is the intellectually infamous Cloward-Piven Strategy in action. The idea is to keep creating new crises while making government so big that the entire system collapses. Although the collapse will be largely the result of of the weight of government, the effect upon the system and upon private institutions will be so profound that only the government will remain powerful enough to fix it.

The leftist professors who pushed the plan, Frances Fox Piven and Richard Cloward, used terminology that itself would be considered racist today, but at least they were clear about the goal of aggrandizing political power. The deliberately-created crisis, they said, would “permit national Democratic leaders to cultivate ghetto constituencies without unduly antagonizing other urban groups.”

This is the domestic policy version, this time nationalized, of the oft-misquoted Vietnam-era idea of “destroying the village in order to save it.”

Again, this is not to suggest that Biden himself is so dastardly as to intend such a dangerously revolutionary strategy of harming millions in the short term en route to a supposed Marxist utopia. It is, however, to say that Biden’s policies and practices could lead inexorably to such a crisis as Cloward and Piven envisioned.

As long as Biden’s administration keeps moving in this direction, good Americans should oppose it with all the righteous energy we possess.

Afghanistan’s in flames while Joe Biden’s to blame. Film at 11:00.

Metaphorical flames, of course. The Taliban hasn’t needed to actually set anything ablaze. Joe Biden called for a withdrawal of American troops so that he could look like a big shot on the 20th anniversary of 9/11. Anyone who isn’t a nincompoop could see that if you give a specific date, the Taliban would just wait it out before taking over Afganistan. The Taliban surprised us all by saying “why wait” and is the proud new owner of Kabul. Also, of Joe Biden.

A lot happened over the weekend. Here are some key points. As you navigate the news this week, please remember, Joe Biden thinks YOU’RE a potential terrorist if you disagree with him about COVID.

If you’re surprised by how quickly it fell apart, so are Joe Biden and his secretary of state.

Joe Biden is trying to blame Donald Trump.

Biden, while on vacation, released a statement claiming what’s happening in Afghanistan is because he “inherited a deal cut by his predecessor.” As the Wall Street Journal points out, bullshit.

Note that Mr. Biden is more critical of his predecessor than he is of the Taliban. The President has spent seven months ostentatiously overturning one Trump policy after another on foreign and domestic policy. Yet he now claims Afghanistan policy is the one he could do nothing about.

This is the same Taliban that Biden’s Democrat Party is lecturing to “think about how they want to be viewed on the world stage.” They obviously did.

The White House, trying to quell stories of Joe Biden’s gross incompetence, was grossly incompetent.

Joe Biden took a break from eating ice cream and playing video games to sit at a desk and let someone take a picture of him on a conference call. The person who tweeted the photo, in doing so, outed a CIA operative.

I’ve run social media operations on local village mayoral races and even then, LOOKING AT THE PICTURE YOU ARE TWEETING should be Digital Media 101. The people who are working for the White House have no such sense of common sense. Only our best and brightest!

The mainstream media, surprisingly, for now, is holding Biden accountable.

This is the same CNN that has questioned the patriotism of veterans who lost their legs. But, at least on Sunday, they admitted this looks bad for our pudding-headed president. They claim this could “be an albatross around his neck for the rest of time.” And Jake Tapper dismantled the Secretary of State.

It won’t last. Republicans, who are currently “seizing,” will eventually “overreach.” Joe Biden, when he gets back from vacation, will give a speech that gives the media their new talking points. But, at least for a Sunday, it was refreshing to see honesty.

Two pictures say it all.

The most lasting image from the end of the Vietnam War was of the U.S. embassy needing to be evacuated by helicopter.

Joe Biden wanted to look like a “Big Shot” for the anniversary of 9/11. Instead, his legacy will be that of another Billy Joel song: “Goodnight Saigon.” But hey, at least there are no mean tweets!

The utterly nauseating and unnecessary abandonment of Afghanistan to its fate recalls a similar humiliation at the hands of Islamist radicals in the Jimmy Carter administration. 

President Biden’s profligate spending policies are unleashing inflation that is sparking voter distrust so noticeable that even NPR is sounding the alarm. 

He is begging OPEC to come up with more oil while interfering with US production. He announced barely a month ago, with great confidence, “The Taliban is not the South — the North Vietnamese army. They’re not — they’re not remotely comparable in terms of capability. 

“There’s going to be no circumstance where you see people being lifted off the roof of a embassy in the — of the United States from Afghanistan. It is not at all comparable.” 

Our president comes across as weak, meek, ineffectual, incompetent and confused. (Momentarily confusing South and North Vietnam doesn’t even make the list of the top 100 senior moments we’ve seen this year from this near-octogenarian, despite the fact that his staff is keeping him hidden to a degree with little if any precedent in the past half-century.) 

Biden is embarrassing the United States in real time, and I await with eagerness the Biden version of the blame-shifting Malaise Speech. Biden’s version, of course, will be the This Is All Trump’s Fault speech. 

As the Democrat presidential campaign degenerates into “Weekend at Gropey’s,” a question arises: Assuming the Dems and their media minions somehow drag that rickety, basement-dwelling weirdo across the finish line, how do they get rid of him post-inauguration? Clearly, he would be a figurehead as Dr. Demento – sorry, Dr. Jill – and Kamala Harris joust for control before a backdrop of scheming pinko puppetmasters. But sooner or later, probably sooner, the Dem elite is going to try to put him out to pasture. How could they pull it off? And can they? Let’s see…

A few caveats: I think Donald Trump is going to win, so this is all hypothetical. The only bright spot for the Dems is the garbage polls his lying mainstream media allies keep pushing, and the liars are even having to concede that those are tightening, especially in states that matter. We’re days away from them pulling Grandpa Badfinger out of the debate. My money is still on the “I won’t normalize Trump’s racist cisgender sexism by appearing on stage with him” excuse, but “I fear the flu” is a close second. His recent catastrophic appearances outside his dungeon lair demonstrate that this guy couldn’t hack a debate if he was snorting rails of Namenda like Hunter hoovering blow on New Year’s Eve in Medellin. Trump holds an indisputable edge in other important areas, too, like enthusiasm, ground game, and continence.

I also want to put aside the very serious issue of the Democrat transition disruption plans, a plot so staggeringly unwise that only our garbage elite could conceive of it and think it would work out all right for them. Their dual track strategy of stealing the election through legal and extra-legal shenanigans, followed by cementing their own power via attacks on the Supreme Court, the Electoral College, giving statehood to territories, defunding cops, and disarming the populace even as they attempt to limit free speech are a recipe for disaster. So, let’s put aside the second civil war these fools seem intent on provoking – our esteemed elite does not seem to remember that Democrats are already 0-1 – and assume the peaceful transition of power they would deny Trump (and you).

Let’s focus on how they try to get rid of Bad Touch Biden should they win, because it’s pretty obvious that he can’t function as president, and it’s pretty obvious that other people want that gig. They are sharpening their knives already.

There is one huge problem with getting rid of him: his wife. She wants to be president so bad she can taste it, and she’s more excited to be president – uh, I mean first lady – than Brian Stelter, who is a potato, is at the thought of visiting Golden Corral. She’s going to do everything she can to be a limo lib Edger Bergen to her husband’s less-animated Charlie McCarthy. Moreover, the Joe Junta of advisors wants its payoff. With Depends Boy as figurehead, they not only get jobs but they get a whole lot of lightly supervised power. So, there will be a potent Dem faction supporting the Presidency of the Living Dead.

But others in the Dem elite want Oldfinger out of the way. Of course, Kamala Harris is the grasping, striving avatar of this faction. She’s already talking about “a Harris Administration.” If I were Dr. Jill, which would be weird, I’d send some intern out to start Air Force One in the morning and hire a taster to clear Joe’s mornin’ mush. Now, am I saying that Kamala Harris would physically harm Joe Biden? Let’s just say that I’d rather gulp down Ruth Gordon’s smoothies in Rosemary’s Baby than roll those dice. 

Regardless, she (and the Democrat establishment using the crusty crustacean as a Trojan Horse to retake power) will want be rid of him. The 25th Amendment is the most obvious play. And, frankly, it would be legit, since he is manifestly incompetent, not that stuff like facts and truth matter in modern politics. 

The 25th Amendment, one of the rare parts of the Constitution that Democrats like, has been their fantasy Hail Mary play since Trump beat Felonia Milhous von Pantsuit. It is worth reviewing the entire process for replacing the president as outlined in Section 4, since, if America is dumb enough to elect the Dementiacrat in seven weeks, we’ll all be getting really familiar with it:

Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.

So, here is how it goes. President Biden gets inaugurated showing up for the ceremony in his untied bathrobe and confusing the oath with the Armour hot dogs jingle. Very quickly, Dr. Jill and the Biden Bunch start running things in his name while he spends his day upstairs in the Lincoln Bedroom, sitting on a stool, watchin’ his stories. The media gets busy covering for him because no contrary memo has circulated.

They ice out Kamala, who tries to assert control. Instead of wielding power, she’s sent off to do veep stuff, like appear at the bar mitzvah for the nephew of the High Poobah of Burkino Faso. This annoys her, and her allies – remember, due to her notorious flexibility, she is the candidate Obama and the establishment really wanted.

The trigger for the coup will be when Biden’s handlers are unable to push through the entire lefty agenda through Congress in the first 100 days. Banning guns, packing the Supreme Court, single-payer, Green New Scam. Assuming the worst case, that Schumer takes the Senate majority, they have to kill the filibuster and outmaneuver Cocaine Mitch to do all that. They need an active, potent president, and the one they are stuck with is busy slurping oatmeal.

The rush to the left bogs down because Biden can’t lead. The Democrat base starts getting restless, and it accurately assesses that the problem is that they nominated and elected a senile old weirdo. Dr. Jill gets a visit from a delegation of Dem bigwigs who tell her it’s time for him to resign. She refuses. She probably does not even let them see Joe, who is busy with a puzzle.

The cabinet is full of folks like Pete Buttigieg, and with the aggressive action one would expect of the Audie Murphy of Kabul, he leads the other cabinet members (all of whom imagine they could be the next veep) to declare in writing that Joe is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Kamala takes over as acting president.

But the fight has only just started. Dr. Jill and the Biden Battalion send their own letter to the President pro tem and the Speaker of the House denying any disability. Within four days, Kamala and the cabinet send their response saying the opposite. Now Congress has to decide the issue. It assembles within 48 hours and has to vote within 21 days on whether Biden gets booted.

That’s when the snapping Murder Turtle bites hard. See, to remove Joe and permanently install Kamala, you need “two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.” McConnell now holds all the cards. There’s no two-thirds without his GOP bloc. He goes to Dr. Jill and says, “You chill on the leftism, and we let President Magoo – and you – run out the clock until 2024.”

Of course, she agrees. She’s got no choice. It’s either run a center-left presidency without the insane leftist nonsense Diddles ran on, or pack her stuff and get the hell out. That’s an easy call. President Biden gets to stumble through the next four years while Kamala gets to spend her terms doing potlucks with el Presidente de Paraguay.

Think it can’t happen?

Dude, it’ll be 2021. After 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and now 2020, do you believe there is any insane scenario that can’t actually happen in 2021?

Why Is Biden Creating His Own Crises?

Our mainstream media largely ignored it, the world media did not.

Ascending the stairs of Air Force One on Friday, to fly to Georgia, President Joe Biden slipped and stumbled. Getting up, he slipped again and then fell. The scene was jolting and disquieting.

Adversaries abroad will use it as a metaphor for the decline of the last superpower to emerge from the Cold War.

And while our major media may scoff at it, there is talk all over this town about what appears to be the visibly declining physical and mental capacity of this oldest of American presidents at 78.

Biden’s press conference this coming Thursday — after the longest delay before a first full presidential press conference since Cal Coolidge — will be as closely monitored as Ronald Reagan’s second debate in 1984, after he seemed to suffer a mental lapse in his first debate with Fritz Mondale.

But now, after his legislative triumph with the enactment of his $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan, Joe Biden has some new problems, all of his own making.

The COVID-19 pandemic he inherited, as Nixon inherited Vietnam in 1969. But Biden and the nation were fortunate in that, by the time he took the oath, two vaccines had been approved and the shots were being given to Americans at a rate of a million doses a day.

The new crisis on America’s border, however, with record numbers of children, teenagers and families arriving and asking for asylum, is almost entirely Biden’s doing.

By trashing Donald Trump’s border controls as inhumane and promising a more compassionate policy, Biden sent word to Central and South America and the world that the U.S. borders were open again. The result is what we see nightly on TV: Migrants crossing over into the USA in record numbers, with no end in sight.

What Gov. Andrew Cuomo did to the nursing homes of New York — send COVID-positive patients back into them — Biden is doing to the USA.

Of the thousands of illegal immigrants entering our country daily, few are tested for COVID-19 before being moved into the American heartland, carrying the infection with them.

How do you control a pandemic when our 2,000-mile southern border is a crossing corridor for thousands of infected every single day?

Biden’s people call this a “challenge.” But for the country, which seemed to be pulling out of the pandemic, it is a medical and security emergency and a national crisis.

Yet, it is not only on the domestic front that Biden and his people have created for themselves new and unnecessary crises.

Biden is only two months into his presidency but already has brought U.S.-China relations to the lowest level since the Tiananmen Square massacre of 1989. And he has brought U.S.-Russian relations to the lowest level since Nikita Khrushchev blew up the Paris summit of May 1960 over President Eisenhower’s refusal to apologize for the U-2 spy flight over Russia that the Soviets had shot down.

Biden is himself responsible for the poisoned relations with Russia, after telling ABC that, yes, Vladimir Putin is “a killer” whom he once told to his face that he had no “soul.”

In chilling relations with China, Secretary of State Antony Blinken has played the lead role.

Before taking office, Blinken publicly charged the Chinese government with “genocide” in its treatment of the Uighurs. He then opened the two-day Anchorage meeting with a two-minute indictment of China for its actions in Xinjiang, Hong Kong and Taiwan — and got back a blistering 20-minute Chinese counterattack. The thrust of Beijing’s response:

Xinjiang, Tibet and Hong Kong are Chinese national territories, and how we rule there is none of America’s business. Nor do you Americans have any superior moral claim or right to sit in judgment on us, given your own record with indigenous peoples and Black Americans.

Nor do you have any right to impose your democracy or values on us, when we prefer our system and our values. As for your claim to define for the world the so-called rules-based international order, we reject that, too, and intend to erect an order based upon our interests and our values.

So, stop trying to impose your democracy on us or the rest of the world which may not want it. The U.S. delegation can speak for the United States. It does not speak for the world, much of which openly rejects it.

By calling Vladimir Putin a “killer,” Biden seems to have aborted the kind of summitry with Moscow in which Presidents Eisenhower, Nixon, Reagan and Bush I engaged during the Cold War when the Soviet Union was a far more menacing and hostile power than Putin’s Russia is today.

From Biden’s behavior in his first 60 days, we already seem fated to endure years more of deepening Cold War with Russia and China.

To what end this Biden-Blinken in-your-face diplomacy?

Biden’s Kamala Problem: A Weak, Paranoid Vice President Breeds Further Dysfunction in Washington

What on earth is going on between Joe Biden and Kamala Harris? Lost amidst the discussion of what each of them is not doing, or at least not doing particularly well—Harris responding to the crisis on the southern border and touring Central America, Biden botching his European tour—is the story of the relationship between the two centers of dysfunction.

That both the Presidency and Vice Presidency are dysfunctional is obvious five months into the Biden Administration. The lack of cooperation, and even signs of passive aggressive tension, make this worse. Their apparently troubled relationship is not just exacerbating problems like the border, but also serving as a kind of proxy battle between the major factions of the Democratic Party.The Vice Presidency is an interesting role in the US system. For all the office’s lack of effective governmental power, the Vice Presidency has grown into the second most important political position in America. Ever since Richard Nixon ran to succeed Dwight Eisenhower in 1960, the Vice President has been the heir apparent of the President to their party’s nomination. The perch of the Vice Presidency was enough to ensure that Hubert Humphrey was the Democratic nominee in 1968, Walter Mondale in 1984, and Al Gore in 2000. And of course, there is Joe Biden himself.

It is worth noting that none of these Vice Presidents succeeded in succeeding their boss as President. The first four lost, and Biden did not become president until four years later. George H. W. Bush in 1988 is the only sitting Vice President since 1836 to win a presidential election.

All of this brings us to Kamala Harris, because while the Vice Presidency is a very strong base for a politician of mediocre talents and limited appeal to secure their party’s nomination, it is not enough to turn them into a credible President. If the Vice Presidency is occupied by someone who is not perceived as a viable President it can actually be a serious problem for the party, as openly opposing the ambitions of that individual can be perceived as disloyalty to the President, but loyalty will lead the party to long-term disaster. This is one of the problems Democrats face with Harris. In this case, however, the situation is made worse by the fact that apparently neither Joe Biden nor the party’s voters wanted her in the first place.

While there has been an effort to spin a tale of close friendship between Harris and Joe Biden’s late son Beau when both were Attorneys General of their respective states, that was a professional relationship at best separated by thousands of miles. Harris is a California politician, not just in terms of origins, but in terms of her path to the top. She was a local district attorney, then Attorney General and only entered federal office because of her profile in state politics. Neither Joe Biden, nor Barack Obama had anything to do with it. Harris was not Biden’s protégé, nor was she a protégé of any of his proteges, nor is their any commonality among their allies at almost any point going back decades. She is the product of an entirely different political ecosystem.

For an old-school, local Delaware pol like Biden, this would be a source of suspicion. The entire lack of any overlapping alliances, personal obligations, or issues combined with the total absence of a Washington profile would be suspect. But to make matters worse, Harris openly targeted Biden during the primary campaign, most dramatically with her grandstanding assault on his position on school bussing during the debates. Reports say that this event alone held up Harris’ selection as VP for weeks as Biden himself had to be persuaded to overlook it.

Overlook it he eventually did. Events in South Carolina and Minneapolis forced his hand. Biden’s presidential campaign was resurrected by strong support from Jim Clyburn and the old guard of the Congressional Black Caucus in the South Carolina primary. This placed Biden deeply in their debt. Ironically, Harris was never particularly close to Clyburn or the CBC, which is primarily a House entity, and Harris of course lacked links to the House, Washington, or the South. Yet Biden had also trapped himself with a commitment to a female Vice President. He was committed to a female candidate, he needed to win over the African American community, and after the events following George Floyd’s death, he had few choices left.

By process of elimination, Biden was left with Stacey Abrams, Susan Rice, and Harris. Of the three, Harris, a U.S. Senator, was the only truly plausible contender for the role of Vice President to the oldest president in American history.

Harris knew she was not selected because Biden loved and admired her, but because she was his only viable option.  This knowledge of her own perceived isolation and weakness seems to have driven much of her behavior. More importantly, it means she seems to have treated Biden as a hostile force, interpreting his suggestions and assignments as traps.

This was evident early in the year when Harris made clear she did not want to be the one involved in overruling the Senate parliamentarian to push through a $15 minimum wage increase in the Stimulus. She clearly saw this as an effort to make “her” into a “bad guy.” She has similarly treated the assignment of “Border Czar” as a trap, not just not doing the job, but going out of her way to make clear that she did not want it and is not doing it. It is one thing not to do a job. Plenty of politicians do that. But to shout from the rooftops effectively that you are not doing the job and have no responsibility for anything relating to it is a sign of paranoia. And perhaps in her case, that paranoia is justified.

Biden’s camp clearly has treated Harris with a degree of suspicion and has taken steps to indicate that yes, Biden is running or planning to in 2024. Yet that signaling in itself may have been triggered by Harris’ behavior. Her suspiciousness and tendency to see plots everywhere is a self-fulfilling prophecy which leads her to intrigue in turn.

Biden may have another concern. Harris’ insecurity and paranoia is threatening to cause chaos within the Democratic Party. Not only is it causing worry about Harris, but also resentment. If Harris believes Biden is not going to run, and that he is opposed to her nomination, it makes her all the more determined to secure early commitments from Democratic elected officials to back her, all while Biden is nominally running. This places every single elected DC Democrat in a position of potentially either having to offend Harris or offend Biden.

It would be one thing if Harris was in fact the natural heir apparent. But in DC, she does not look that way. She lacks allies, having only served for part of a term. She was not part of the Congressional Black Caucus, and ideologically she was too California for the moderates, but too much of an establishment figure for the left.

This is something which is missed by many conservatives. By the standards of 2004, Harris is far-left, one of the most left-wing members of the Senate. But politics in 2021 is not policy-based, it is tribal. And Harris is tribally unacceptable to the progressive left.

First and foremost, she is a “cop.” Yes, she was a “liberal” prosecutor, but the 2000s “liberal prosecutor” is still a “racist tool of the power structure” in 2021. By definition that places her in the “establishment” wing of the party. Furthermore, there is the issue of her close links to California elites. In the 2000s, the influence of Hollywood, San Francisco money, etc. became buzzwords for “liberal” influence and Bush campaigned aggressively on it in 2004. But today, money is money, and Harris’ money comes from very rich people, many of whom have employees who are not unionized, and quite a few of whom, especially in Hollywood, have #metoo problems. That Harris’ husband is a Hollywood entertainment lawyer is a reinforcement that she is part of the California monied establishment which is still “monied” and still an “establishment.”

Finally, Harris’ husband is an object of suspicion to the radical left. By 2004 standards, he is a “liberal” secular American Jew who has a cultural affinity for Israel, but hates Netanyahu. The Left, however, is no longer “liberal” and there is not a place for “liberal” Jews who believe in the concept of a Jewish state at all. Once again, politics is tribal. The Left does not want Israel to be good. The Left views the existence of Israel as bad and wants it gone because it views its formation as a colonialist crime.

Harris then, for all her left-wing policy credentials, has a massive left-flank problem. Her behavior has to be viewed in this context. She did not want to overrule the Senate Parliamentarian on the minimum wage increase because it would offend Washington opinion which values tradition and a parliamentarian appointed by Democrats, but she also felt that being sent out to kill it was an effort by Biden to make her an enemy of the left. Making her “border czar” seemed like a way of associating “Cop Kamala” with the internment of young migrants.

All of this is compounded by the truth about why she was chosen. Harris is not foolish enough not to realize that she has problems with the new left, that Biden doesn’t trust her, or that the issues she is tasked with handling present dangers. But she lacks the political instincts or creativity to do anything about these problems other than react defensively and passively aggressively towards Biden.

Biden is saddled with a weak Vice President, who absent the role would be a non-factor in DC. But with the office, she is officially heir apparent to the Democratic Party, without the power base or support to actually control it. Nor does she have the skills to remedy the situation. The result is a source of instability for the Administration, the party, and the country.

Biden Is Unfit to Be President — And the Media Is Unfit to Cover Him

His slip-ups and their cover-ups are total embarrassments.

Joe Biden is not mentally or physically fit to be president of the United States. This has been obvious to anyone with eyes or ears for the entirety of his presidency. Acknowledging this simple fact should not be a partisan issue. Regardless of policy disputes, Republicans and Democrats alike should want the leader of the free world to exhibit strength, power, and reassurance on both the national and the world stage. But Biden is merely a figurehead. He is a facsimile of a leader in an office that normally demands sharpness, stamina, and clear-headedness.

No honest assessment can conclude that Biden’s public appearances present a man who is in control of his faculties or who looks sharp and confident. On the contrary, he looks frail, weak, indecisive, unsure of himself, and unsteady. When he speaks, he often says things that simply don’t make sense, even as he almost exclusively reads from a teleprompter or uses notecards. He has repeatedly said that if he takes unscripted questions from the press, he’s “gonna get in trouble” from his staff.

Yet those who do not follow politics closely or ignore conservative outlets could be forgiven for thinking that Biden is fully capable, thanks to the corrupt Fourth Estate that has refused to accurately cover Biden’s ever-increasing list of embarrassing moments.

It was obvious Biden was not fit to lead the country when he fell no less than three times on his way up the steps of Air Force One back in March. But here was the New York Times headline after his stumble: “Biden is ‘doing 100 percent fine’ after tripping while boarding Air Force One.”

It was clear that Biden was cognitively unfit when he was recently asked about Russian cyberattacks at a pie shop in Michigan and he not only seemed to forget where he was but also pulled a notecard out of his pocket for reference, only to continue rambling in such a way that can only be described as incoherent.

“I’ll tell you what they sent me. The idea that, first of all, we’re not sure who it is, for certain, number one, and what I did, I directed the full resources of the government to assist in a our response if we determine,” Biden said. “And the fact is that the director of the intelligence community gave me a deep dive on what’s happened and I’ll know better tomorrow, and if it is either with the knowledge of, and or a consequence of Russia, then I told Putin we will respond.” Reuters, apparently confident with Biden’s muddled response, wrote the headline, “Biden orders probe of latest ransomware attack.”

It was obvious Biden was not fit to lead the country when he held his one and only “press conference” more than two months ago and completely lost his train of thought before abruptly walking away from the podium in the middle of attempting to answer a question from a reporter whom he had called on from a preselected list. “If you hold near and dear to you that you uh um like to be able to um … ” Biden said, before awkwardly closing with “anyway.” Yet here was CNN’s takeaway from Biden’s performance: “ ‘It’s a matter of timing’: Biden lays out expansive theory of his own presidency.”

It was clear that Biden was not fit to lead back in May when he addressed FEMA staff members in garbled sentences as they stared blankly and looked uncomfortable. “But, uh, there’s, you know, there to be, you know, beginning, uh, this effort for 2021 is, uh — I think,” Biden said before continuing. “There’s help, there’s the moving, they’re, um, you know, being there to help, ah, clear roads, rebuild main streets and so that the families can get back to their lives. That’s what FEMA does, every single day.” And here was the headline from the Washington Post: “Biden says he will ‘insist on nothing less than readiness’ during hurricane season.”

And it was obvious Biden was not fit to lead the country when he creepily whispered to reporters on more than one occasion after he was asked about concerns that he was encouraging Americans to collect unemployment checks, rather than return to work. “Pay them more. This is an employee’s — an employee’s bargaining chip now,” Biden said with his neck stuck out as though he were telling a ghost story to his grandchildren around a bonfire. Neither the New York Times nor the Washington Post decided to report Biden’s bizarre antics.

The fact that the Fourth Estate chooses to ignore and defend these clear instances of confusion, delirium, and all-too-frequent bumbling from the 46th president of the United States goes a long way in explaining why the American people no longer have any faith in the media.

As Biden’s embarrassing moments of ineptitude inevitably pile up, how much longer will the Fourth Estate continue to ask him about his favorite ice cream flavor, instead of reporting on his dramatic mental and physical decline? When will they hold him accountable for his horrible policies of open borders, tax increases, inflationary spending, and appeasement of Iran, Russia, and China?

By the looks of it, nothing will change anytime soon. That is why the media is corrupt. That is why they are fake news. That is why Americans are tuning them out. That is why nothing they say matters anymore.

I am going to include one more reference to show how not only incompetent Biden Is but also how indifferent he is to the world around him and also to his allies. This is a seminal article by the amazing Ben Shapiro. I have copied it word for word. It will also serve as my conclusion to this post. Because mainly I can’t improve upon it.

SHAPIRO: Here’s What Went Wrong In Afghanistan — And What We Should Have Done Differently

We are currently watching one of the greatest and most horrible debacles in the history of the United States unfold in Afghanistan. This debacle has both causes and consequences. The causes range from mission creep to myopia, from foolishness to cowardice. The consequences will reverberate from Afghanistan to Taiwan to the United States itself.

To understand just what has happened — and what comes next — we must examine the current collapse in Afghanistan from three different perspectives: the tactical; the geostrategic; and the moral.

The Tactical Collapse Of The United States

Put aside for the moment the American mission in Afghanistan — whether our full-scale invasion was the right idea, or whether it fell prey to mission creep, or whether indeed, the United States should have remained in Afghanistan indefinitely with a skeleton force costing a fraction of America’s initial investment. We’ll examine such questions presently.

Begin with a simple fact: President Biden’s precipitous, contingency-free pullout from Afghanistan is one of the most extraordinarily idiotic moves in the history of military interventionism. It’s not that Biden chose to pull out. It’s how he chose to pull out.

On April 14, 2021, Biden announced that the United States would begin a final pullout from Afghanistan. “It is time to end America’s longest war,” Biden stated. “It’s time for American troops to come home.” Biden stated that the terrorist threat from Afghanistan had been successfully neutralized, and explained that the country would not become a base for terror activities again. Biden made the announcement despite an intelligence report that same week predicting that the Taliban would be “likely to make gains on the battlefield, and the Afghan government will struggle to hold the Taliban at bay if the coalition withdraws support.” By Biden’s timeline, however, the troops would begin their withdrawal by May 1.

At this point, there were fewer than 3,500 American troops in Afghanistan; it was no longer America’s “longest war” in any technical sense, given that no combat troops had been killed in Afghanistan since February 2020, and that the number of American casualties in Afghanistan had dropped to 11 in 2015. The United States’ military presence in Afghanistan had been reduced to its smallest footprint since 2001, and the job of the US military was to provide technical and air support for the Afghan military.

So, how did things continue to operate? How did the Afghan military maintain even a semblance of control over any portion of the country? According to The Wall Street Journal, the Afghan military had built its entire mechanism around such support:

The Afghan army fighting alongside American troops was molded to match the way the Americans operate. The U.S. military, the world’s most advanced, relies heavily on combining ground operations with air power, using aircraft to resupply outposts, strike targets, ferry the wounded, and collect reconnaissance and intelligence.

When it became clear that the United States would abandon its airbases in Afghanistan — and along with those airbases, the air support it directly provided to the Afghan military — the Afghans had literally no capacity to operate anymore, and everyone knew it. As The Wall Street Journal said, “In the wake of President Biden’s withdrawal decision, the U.S. pulled its air support, intelligence and contractors servicing Afghanistan’s planes and helicopters. That meant the Afghan military simply couldn’t operate anymore.”

It’s even worse than, that according to The Daily Beast, the Afghan air force — the only force capable of supplementing their hundreds of firebases on the ground spread thin across Afghanistan — relied on foreign contractors for upkeep and maintenance. Biden withdrew them and refused to allow them to remain:

The country’s mostly U.S.-provided air fleet was dependent on foreign contractors to assist with maintenance. As the U.S. withdrawal took hold, the Biden administration refused to allow contractors into the country to service the aircraft, effectively grounding some of the Afghan Air Force at the same time as the U.S. had withdrawn direct air support to Afghan forces.

Furthermore, it is common military knowledge in Afghanistan that the Taliban have a fighting season — they only fight in the non-winter. Delaying the American pullout until the weather turned would have at least provided a natural barrier against the lightning invasion the Taliban pulled off; the Afghan government asked for just that, a delay until October. Biden refused:

Afghan officials had hoped that a drawback timed with the beginning of winter could buy them more time to strengthen defenses against the Taliban. But the Biden administration pushed ahead with its own timeline.

The Biden administration had to know all of this was the case. They had removed every single element of support necessary for the Afghan military to even have a fighting chance of retaining any area of control in Afghanistan. And yet Biden continued to maintain the lie that the Taliban would not retake the country quickly and easily. In July, he lied that we would “ensure they have the capacity to maintain their air force.” At that same press conference, he infamously stated that there was “zero” comparison between what was happening in Afghanistan and what had happened in Vietnam, when the Democratic Congress cut off all support for the South Vietnamese government, leading to the fall of Saigon: “The Taliban is not the south — the North Vietnamese army,” the doddering commander-in-chief stated. “They’re not remotely comparable in terms of capability. There’s going to be no circumstance where you see people being lifted off the roof of the embassy of the United States from Afghanistan. It is not at all comparable…The likelihood there’s going to be the Taliban overrunning everything and owning the whole country is highly unlikely.”

This was either a flat lie or the most addlebrained remark in the history of American foreign policy. In either case, it shows that President Biden is a disgrace to his office.

The Geostrategic Collapse Of The United States

All of this leads to the second major failure for the United States inherent in America’s Afghanistan collapse: the geostrategic failure.

The United States had two geostrategic goals in Afghanistan: the preservation of a base of operations from which to strike terrorist targets, and the continued maintenance of American credibility toward both our enemies and our allies.

We have now failed on both fronts.

Biden declared just last month that one of the primary goals in Afghanistan was to “keep Afghanistan from becoming a base from which attacks could be continued against the United States.” Now, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley has informed Congress that terror groups are likely to reconstitute in Afghanistan in the very near future. According to Dr. Sajjan Gohel of the Asia Pacific Foundation, there are some 250-500 members of al Qaeda in Kunar, a heavily forested valley region of Afghanistan; Gohel says that number is likely to increase, and given the United States’ lack of access to any intelligence network and its surrender of all airbases in Afghanistan — as well as Pakistan’s newfound quid pro quo with Afghanistan to reject US bases on Pakistani territory — it’s quite likely that terrorist groups will reconstitute quickly in Afghanistan.

Then there is the question of American credibility.

The West’s abandonment of Hong Kong in the face of Chinese aggression last year; the West’s continuing desire for a rapprochement with the Iranian mullahcracy; the West’s routine appeasement of Russia all speak to the unwillingness of the West — and the West’s leader, the United States — to stand up for allies anywhere on earth. Afghanistan is simply the latest, and by far the most stunning, example of abandonment of an American ally. The United States simply walked away from its allies in Afghanistan, leaving tens of thousands of them to meet their fate, with no viable opportunity to escape. That was a choice, and an obvious choice: the United States could have maintained a military presence long enough to ensure that those with whom we worked could preserve their lives, and that those who didn’t wish to live under the auspices of a barbaric eighth-century regime could escape. We didn’t, and we chose not to.

Our enemies can see this. And they are moving.

China has already signaled that it will recognize the Taliban’s rule, and will work with the Taliban to increase Chinese influence in the region via its Belt and Road Initiative; China hopes to get its hands on Afghanistan’s possible trillion-dollar rare-earth metals. For their part, the Taliban has already signaled that it will work with China, and doesn’t give a damn about Muslim Uyghurs being imprisoned in Xinjiang. China’s embassy in Afghanistan remains open. China has also solidified relations with Pakistan, presenting a solid face against India.

But that’s just the beginning. China’s Global Times, a Communist Party mouthpiece, chortled, “From what happened in Afghanistan, those in Taiwan should perceive that once a war breaks out in the Straits, the island’s defense will collapse in hours and U.S. military won’t come to help. As a result, the [Democratic Progressive Party of Taiwan] will quickly surrender.” Indeed, given the window presented by the Biden Administration, it would be somewhat of a surprise if China didn’t attempt some sort of action against Taiwan in the next few years.

Foreign policy abhors vacuums, and the United States has now created one. That means that erstwhile American allies will begin to play footsie with countries like Russia and China, believing that American commitments mean little. They have reason for such suspicions, obviously.

The Moral Collapse Of The United States

We originally went to Afghanistan in order to root out al Qaeda and depose the Taliban in the aftermath of September 11. George W. Bush announced America’s attack on Afghanistan on October 7, 2001, stating:

The attack took place on American soil, but it was an attack on the heart and soul of the civilized world. And the world has come together to fight a new and different war, the first, and we hope the only one, of the 21st century; a war against all those who seek to export terror and a war against those governments that support or shelter them.

There was no mention of nation-building. But in order to prevent the Taliban from simply returning to power, some alternative had to be provided in Afghanistan. The United States chose to foster a nascent democracy.

This was a form of mission creep, to be sure. And many of the justifications for the war after its initial phase turned from ensuring a base for American operations against terror and continued degradation of Afghanistan’s terror-housing capacity — the true purpose of the war — toward the humanistic. America’s rhetorical approach shifted from realpolitik to Wilsonian democracy-building.

This was an enormous mistake by the Bush administration. By 2009, George W. Bush left office celebrating that “Afghanistan has gone from a nation where the Taliban harbored al Qaeda and stoned women in the streets to a young democracy that is fighting terror and encouraging girls to go to school.” While true and worth celebrating, this statement reflected an obvious shift in priorities: America would not have gone to war to allow Afghan women the opportunity to go to school alone. And this shift in priorities allowed opponents of the Afghanistan war to present it as an inherent and continuing mistake: as a quixotic, often-blundering offense against the human rights it supposedly sought to forward, as evidenced by Barack Obama in 2008 (“And that requires us to have enough troops that we’re not just air raiding villages and killing civilians, which is causing enormous problems there”) and as a foolhardy errand in human rights by the quasi-isolationist right, as evidenced by Donald Trump in 2016 (“We made a terrible mistake getting involved there in the first place”). Both Obama and Trump negotiated with the Taliban in an attempt to establish enough stability to end the war — a foolish strategy given the Taliban’s obvious unwillingness to deal honestly. Both Obama and Trump recognized enough, however, to understand that abandoning Afghanistan without any strategy would result in mass carnage, and undermine the true mission in Afghanistan — and so neither precipitously pulled out, as Obama had done in Iraq leading to ISIS’ rise. As Trump said in 2017, “My original instinct was to pull out, and historically, I like following my instincts…[But] the consequences of a rapid exit are both predictable and unacceptable.”

Joe Biden, however, would not allow his responsibilities as president overcome his commitment to his perverse ideas about Afghanistan. And so he pulled out.

And America’s moral failure in Afghanistan has been fulfilled. We have failed ourselves by restoring the rule of precisely the same evil entity that presided over al Qaeda’s September 11 attack; we have failed our allies by subjecting them to slaughter in the streets of Afghanistan.

The snippets of information emerging from Afghanistan are even worse:

The Taliban apparently going house-to-house in Kabul, “killing pilots and SOFs [members of the Afghan Special Operations Forces], raping their families, and taking their houses”;

The Taliban seizing control of incredibly sophisticated caches of American military equipment, including drones, humvees, and MRAPs, as well as our $700 million embassy;

Tens of thousands of American allies stuck in Afghanistan, unable to escape, waiting for their imprisonment, torture, or death;

The Taliban painting over images of women in an attempt to restore theocratic cleansing of women from the public square;

Women locking themselves in their homes, in fear of a return to the Taliban’s brutal rule, in which female education was forbidden, modesty rules were enforced with a whip, and young girls were married off as child brides.

America is not responsible for human rights everywhere. But we are certainly responsible for not abandoning those who have risked life and limb to help us fight terrorism, turning a country with at least a semblance of a chance into an irredeemable hellhole for some 38 million people, complete with massively restored terrorist threat to boot.

American surrender has consequences.

Biden’s Insane Defense

The utter disconnect between the Biden Administration and the reality on the ground in Afghanistan was crystal clear as this week’s terrifying events unfolded. As the Taliban overran Kabul, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced, “The US, the international community, and the Afghan government must do everything we can to protect women and girls from inhuman treatment by the Taliban.”

Everything we can? We had just withdrawn the only protective force from Afghanistan.

The State Department issued a joint statement with dozens of other countries announcing, “The Afghan people deserve to live in safety, security and dignity. We in the international community stand ready to assist them.”

Stand ready to assist them? We had just abandoned them.

Then there was Biden himself.

As the tragedy unfolded, the White House tweeted out a picture of Biden sitting alone in the Situation Room, an extraordinarily feeble image of an extraordinarily feeble presidency:

Initially, the White House announced that Biden wouldn’t speak about the situation for a few days; White House press secretary Jen Psaki similarly announced via automated email that she was on vacation.

Then, slammed with the complete and utter collapse not only of Afghanistan but of his presidency, Biden rushed back to the White House to deliver a speech that could be best summed up as “The Buck Stops Everywhere Else.”

Sounding rambling and defensive, Biden began by explaining that his team was “moving quickly to execute the plans we had put in place to respond to every constituency, including — and contingency — including the rapid collapse we’re seeing now.” This was clearly untrue — as stated, tens of thousands of American allies remain on the ground, and will remain there either as prisoners or as corpses. Then Biden got into the excuse-making. First, he made the utterly specious argument that the only reason we remained in Afghanistan was for nation-building, blustering, “it was never supposed to be creating a unified, centralized democracy.” As for the renewed terror threat from Afghanistan, that threat had already been “degraded,” and America’s removal from the region would not hamper that effort — as we have seen, an extraordinarily dubious claim.

Biden then tried to use as examples of American counterterrorism “al Shabaab in Somalia, al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, al-Nusra in Syria, ISIS attempting to create a caliphate in Syria and Iraq and establishing affiliates in multiple countries in Africa and Asia.” In each of these scenarios, the United States has military force on the ground in arena, at the very least, as in Somalia, assisting allied forces against terrorism. We just removed our capacity to do the same in Afghanistan, despite Biden’s protestations to the contrary.

Then Biden moved on to his second excuse: Trump. “When I came into office, I inherited a deal that President Trump negotiated with the Taliban. Under his agreement, U.S. forces would be out of Afghanistan by May 1, 2021 — just a little over three months after I took office…The choice I had to make, as your President, was either to follow through on that agreement or be prepared to go back to fighting the Taliban in the middle of the spring fighting season.” But, of course, the Trump administration’s agreement to leave was contingent on the Taliban fulfilling certain preconditions which they had not and were not going to fulfill. Furthermore, Biden has had no problem abrogating any other death Trump made. Blaming Trump was sophistry.

Biden continued by attempting a false binary: it was either leave, or war: “There would have been no ceasefire after May 1.  There was no agreement protecting our forces after May 1.  There was no status quo of stability without American casualties after May 1. There was only the cold reality of either following through on the agreement to withdraw our forces or escalating the conflict and sending thousands more American troops back into combat in Afghanistan, lurching into the third decade of conflict.”

This was patently untrue. The actual status quo, as explained, did not posit a full-scale war: NATO combat operations ended in 2014. And Biden’s pathetic attempt to explain that simple fact away by posing a false binary — either endless war or withdrawal — ignored the actual status quo.

Finally, Biden admitted the truth: “I always promised the American people that I will be straight with you.  The truth is: This did unfold more quickly than we had anticipated.” But in doing so, he chose to then cast the blame on the Afghan military he had abandoned, thousands of whom he had probably consigned to murder: “So what’s happened?  Afghanistan political leaders gave up and fled the country.  The Afghan military collapsed, sometimes without trying to fight. If anything, the developments of the past week reinforced that ending U.S. military involvement in Afghanistan now was the right decision.”

The right decision. This is somewhat like arguing that the descent of America’s major cities into crippling murder rates over the past year simply underscores the correctness of defunding the police.

Yet Biden continued to double and triple down on this asinine point. “We gave them every chance to determine their own future. What we could not provide them was the will to fight for that future,” Biden said. “There’s some very brave and capable Afghan special forces units and soldiers, but if Afghanistan is unable to mount any real resistance to the Taliban now, there is no chance that 1 year — 1 more year, 5 more years, or 20 more years of U.S. military boots on the ground would’ve made any difference.” This was yet another lie. The United States equipped the military with a particular strategy; we then undercut the strategy.

As Biden’s speech continued, his excuses became ever-more-preposterous. He claimed, oddly, that “our true strategic competitors — China and Russia — would love nothing more than the United States to continue to funnel billions of dollars in resources and attention into stabilizing Afghanistan indefinitely.” As we have seen, both China and Russia have enthusiastically embraced America’s humiliating withdrawal.

Finally, Biden embraced the complete moral backwardness of his position: he was morally righteous for abandoning a status quo in which zero American troops were dying in favor of a new world in which the Taliban rule a country of 38 million people and provide the base for anti-Western terrorism again. In rhetoric reminiscent of the anti-Vietnam War nonsense of that dark time, Biden said, “So I’m left again to ask of those who argue that we should stay: How many more generations of America’s daughters and sons would you have me send to fight Afghans — Afghanistan’s civil war when Afghan troops will not?   How many more lives — American lives — is it worth?  How many endless rows of headstones at Arlington National Cemetery?”

There are no more rows of headstones thanks to Afghanistan. That part of the war ended years ago. But Biden wanted his photo op.

Now he’ll get it.

Only that photo op will be corpses in the streets; women raped; Afghans plummeting from American planes; burning American flags and dead American allies. And the disgusting spectacle of a cretinous president pleading to “support the Afghan people” and “speak out for the basic rights of the Afghan people” and make “human rights…the center of our foreign policy, not the periphery” as our erstwhile allies lock themselves in their homes, awaiting the brutality that awaits them when their doors open.

“I am President of the United States of America, and the buck stops with me,” Biden concluded.

If it does, he should bear the brunt of any American anger at our utter humiliation on the world stage, the dereliction of our duty, and the rise of our enemies. And if Americans can’t muster such anger, then the American era ended years ago.

President Joe Biden – in search for a new label to pin on his political opponents after the failure of his “Ultra-MAGA” branding, which prompted peals of laughter rather than shudders of horror – landed on a new slur with which to tar those who don’t support his agenda: they are, he said, semi-fascists. Speaking with a crowd of Democratic donors in Maryland, Biden reportedly said, “What we’re seeing now is either the beginning or the death knell of an extreme MAGA philosophy. It’s not just Trump, it’s the entire philosophy that underpins the – I’m going to say something – it’s semi-fascism.”

Now, Democratic politicians painting half of Americans as beneath contempt is old hat. Barack Obama, of course, said that Americans who didn’t support him in 2008 were merely bitter bigots, clinging to “guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren’t like them.” Hillary Clinton was more pithy – she called them a “basket of deplorables.” So semi-fascist shouldn’t come as much of a shock.

But that smear is particularly galling coming from Biden the same week in which he announced, without any Constitutional authority whatsoever, that he was erasing some $500 billion in student loan debts – the single largest executive action in American history. Biden justified that action on the basis of a non-existent covid emergency. He has justified similar usurpations on similar grounds: he illegally tasked his Occupational Safety and Health Administration with forcing vaccines on some 80 million people on the basis of a “public health emergency”; he used his Centers for Disease Control to try to propagate an eviction moratorium on the same basis; he bragged in July that he will reshape the American economy on his own if Congress doesn’t act in order to forestall a supposed “climate change emergency.”

If we’re talking about semi-fascism, this stuff qualifies.

The history of fascism, after all, does not begin with a dictator simply marching into a nation’s capital and seizing total power. It more frequently begins with the destruction of the legislative branch at the hands of centralization of executive power. Adolf Hitler didn’t just declare himself dictator – dictatorial power preceded him in the chancellor’s office by several years, dating back to Heinrich Bruning invoking emergency powers under Article 48 of the Weimar Constitution in 1930. Benito Mussolini came to power under Constitutional means in 1922, and didn’t consolidate his rule until 1925. Fascism, in other words, is a gradual process. And that process starts with executive branch actors accreting authority they were never given.

Because our political discourse has devolved into middle school histrionics – “everyone I don’t like is Hitler!” – we fail to notice the gradual slide into tyranny, ignoring it on behalf of spectacular headlines and reactionary rhetoric. Standing up to that process isn’t semi-fascism; it’s the opposite.

‘The President Was Not Encouraging’: What Obama Really Thought About Biden

The way Joe Biden explained it on the campaign trail in Iowa, he and his friend Barack Obama had long talked of Biden succeeding him in the White House, continuing the work of their administration. It was only tragic fate, in the form of the loss of his son Beau, that intervened. Now, after four years, the plan could finally go forward, with Biden running as the administration’s true heir.

Barack Obama, Biden solemnly declared in his campaign announcement in Philadelphia, is “an extraordinary man, an extraordinary president.” On the social media-generated #BestFriendsDay, the campaign posted a picture of “Joe” and “Barack” friendship bracelets. Biden relabeled himself an “Obama-Biden Democrat.”

According to Thompson, members of Obama’s team saw Biden as something of a dolt:

Interviews with dozens of senior officials of the Obama-Biden administration painted a picture of eight years during which the president and vice president enjoyed a genuinely close personal relationship, built particularly around devotion to family, while at the same time many senior aides, sometimes tacitly encouraged by the president’s behavior, dismissed Biden as eccentric and a practitioner of an old, outmoded style of politics.

“You could certainly see technocratic eye-rolling at times,” said Jen Psaki, the former White House communications director. Young White House aides frequently mocked Biden’s gaffes and lack of discipline in comparison to the almost clerical Obama. They would chortle at how Biden, like an elderly uncle at Thanksgiving, would launch into extended monologues that everyone had heard before.

Former FBI Director James Comey recalled in his book that “Obama would have a series of exchanges heading a conversation very clearly and crisply in Direction A. Then, at some point, Biden would jump in with, ‘Can I ask something, Mr. President?’”

Comey continued: “Obama would politely agree, but something in his expression suggested he knew full well that for the next five or 10 minutes we would all be heading in Direction Z. After listening and patiently waiting, President Obama would then bring the conversation back on course.”

One of the most damning passages in the report pertains to the 2020 Democratic primary:

Yet searing, anonymously sourced quotes from Obama kept appearing through the race. One Democrat who spoke to Obama recalled the former president warning, “Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to fuck things up.” Speaking of his own waning understanding of today’s Democratic electorate, especially in Iowa, Obama told one 2020 candidate: “And you know who really doesn’t have it? Joe Biden.”

Morgan Phillips of FOX News, commenting on this Politico piece, notes the difference between Obama’s endorsement of Hillary in 2016, and his long awaited endorsement of Biden this year:

Some Biden aides pointed out that, when Obama’s endorsement of Biden in 2020 finally did arrive, it didn’t have nearly the energy of his endorsement of Hillary Clinton in 2016.

“I don’t think there’s ever been someone so qualified to hold this office,” Obama said of Clinton in 2016 in an endorsement video. “I believe Joe has all of the qualities we need in a president right now … and I know he will surround himself with good people,” Obama said in Biden’s endorsement video.

And while some senior Democrats credited Biden’s ties to Obama for his strong relationship with Black voters, Biden has emphasized that he earned their votes all on his own. He told aides after his South Carolina primary win Obama hadn’t “lifted a finger” to help him.

This brings to mind what Obama reportedly said to Biden about the prospect of running in 2020.

Mike Brest of the Washington Examiner wrote in 2019:

Former President Barack Obama reportedly told his former Vice President Joe Biden that he didn’t “have to” run for president in 2020.

“You don’t have to do this, Joe, you really don’t,” Obama told Biden earlier this year, according to The New York Times.

Keep all of this in mind if you watch any of the Democratic National Convention next week as people like Obama sing Biden’s praises and say he’s the right man for the job.
