Is China Helping Biden Become President?

I have written several articles on our Presidential candidate Biden. A list of the links have been provided at the bottom of this article for your convenience. This article will, however address different aspects on Presidential candidate Biden’s Campaign and future presidency.

This is election could be one giant dumpster fire. There is already the possibility that mail-in voting will cause widespread voting fraud, or at the very least it will cause election results to take weeks, possibly months, to become official. Then, there is the threat that the election will be influenced by outside actors, including foreign governments such as Russia, Iran, and China. However, the media so far has largely ignored the efforts of China to sway the election to Joe Biden, which makes sense given how much of a pushover he is compared to the way President Trump has dealt with the Chinese. Plus, given Hunter Biden’s business deals with the Chinese, this should come as no surprise. Biden is also a political doormat that the Chinese Communist Party can walk all over. The same cannot be said of Donald Trump, and he has proven this in his dealings with China and other foreign powers for the past four years. He has sat down and hammered out tough trade deals, has condemned their treatment of Hong Kong, and has correctly blamed them for the Chinese Virus outbreak.

National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien warned on Thursday that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) was “trying to elect” Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and that they have the most powerful and sophisticated tools to do it.

Attorney General William Barr confirmed that the intelligence he has received points to a large election interference operation on the part of the Chinese. Barr told this to CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, during a recent interview. The American Military News reported, “During the Wednesday interview, Blitzer reiterated an August report by the U.S. Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI), which assessed Russia prefers to harm Joe Biden’s election chances in favor of President Donald Trump, while China and Iran both prefer Trump does not win reelection. When asked by Blitzer which country has been the most assertive and aggressive in its election motives, Barr said ‘I believe it’s China.’ The Democrats need to create a straw man for them to tear down if they lose the election again, just like they did in 2016 by blaming Russia, Russia, Russia. They need to build up a foreign interference and voter suppression narrative to justify their loss, and they’ve already laid the groundwork for it. It couldn’t possibly be that they are far to the Left of the American people and that Joe Biden doesn’t know what state he is in half of the time. No, it’s because Trump cheated before and he will cheat again. Well, this time the Chinese might very well make it that Joe Biden is the one doing the cheating—and if they win, I highly doubt there will be a spying operation and a two-year investigation into Chinese election interference like the one the Democrats subjected the American people to for two years.

China‘s state-affiliated media are openly rooting for a Joe Biden victory in November, fueling warnings by U.S. intelligence officials of Beijing’s plan to interfere in the upcoming election on his behalf. “It seems like it should be a big story that Chinese media are openly pushing for Biden, and that intelligence suggests the Chinese government wants to interfere in the election on China’s behalf,” Shapiro wrote on Twitter. “But Orange Man Bad, so I guess not.” The article argues that “Many Chinese analysts predict that China will need to deal with Biden in at least the next four years,” quoting foreign policy experts who claim the consensus is shared “around the world.”

Earlier this week, Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe told Fox News that China poses “a greater national security threat” to the United States “than any other nation,” warning of “election influence and interference.”

From the president’s Twitter feed to the Republican National Convention to Fox News, a new talking point has taken hold among Donald Trump and his allies: that U.S. intelligence shows that China would prefer a Joe Biden presidency and is trying to help him win. “Just In: Chinese State Media and Leaders of CHINA want Biden to win ‘the U.S. Election,’” Trump tweeted on August 26. “Beijing Biden is so weak on China that the intelligence community recently assessed that the Chinese Communist Party favors Biden,” Donald Trump Jr. said at the RNC. “Our intelligence community has concluded that China prefers Joe Biden’s candidacy to the reelection of President Trump,” Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) wrote for Fox last week.

In a statement, an ODNI official said that Ratcliffe on Sunday “provided insights into the holistic national security threat China poses to the United States.” But Beijing’s traditional malign influence operations — described by FBI Director Chris Wray in July as “subversive, undeclared, criminal, or coercive attempts to sway our government’s policies, distort our country’s public discourse, and undermine confidence in our democratic processes and values” — have not been deployed to boost Biden or sabotage Trump or otherwise wade into the presidential election specifically, officials said, citing the intelligence they’d reviewed.

Several officials pointed to an episode in September 2018, when the government-owned newspaper China Daily took out a 4-page ad in Iowa’s Des Moine Register aimed at the state’s soybean farmers. The overt attack on Trump’s trade war was an example of how China’s efforts are frequently aimed at pushing its policy preferences on Americans rather than covertly sowing chaos, they said. China’s public rhetoric and influence mechanisms—which include leveraging foreign investment to push Beijing’s agenda—have not changed, even if they have intensified leading into 2020. “The bottom line is they are a significant threat,” the national security official said. “But they are highly unlikely to act on their capabilities to move the needle.”

The ODNI official further said that Ratcliffe’s comments over the weekend were “consistent with the election threat information previously released by Bill Evanina.” But Evanina, who last month released a public statement on foreign interference efforts, did not say that anything about China’s efforts “dwarfing” other countries; indeed, at the time, another ODNI official said Evanina had specifically sought to avoid ranking the threats. Evanina instead said China views Trump as “unpredictable” and prefers he lose, and cited Beijing’s “public rhetoric” and attempts to shape the policy environment and pressure political figures it views as opposed to its interests. But that preference hasn’t turned into action, officials said, and the intelligence doesn’t suggest Beijing would be happy with a Biden presidency, either.

But there is “no evidence to support that China is actively interfering” in the election, said a third person who has seen the underlying material. And while Evanina said China has been “expanding its influence efforts,” he also assessed that China had not yet decided whether to take “aggressive action” one way or the other.

Many Chinese analysts predict that China will need to deal with Biden in at least the next four years, and they noticed that the proposed Democrat platform on foreign policy showed that if Biden wins, the US will remain tough on China. So Beijing should remain vigilant. But tactically, the US approach would be more predictable, and Biden is much smoother to deal with than Trump — a viewpoint that is shared by many countries.

Although Biden would very likely to use totally different tactics to continue the US-launched great power competition with China, such as restoring negotiations on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Agreement. As long as the US returns to multilateralism, the two greatest economies in the world could at least have more reasons to dialogue and cooperate, Chinese analysts said.

A Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson has denied Beijing is seeking to swing the U.S. presidential election in favor of Democratic candidate Joe Biden, saying the country has no interest in the contest. Spokesperson Hua Chunying was responding to comments by Attorney General Bill Barr, who said China posed a bigger threat than both Russia and Iran in the coming election. Hua told reporters Friday that Barr’s statement is an example of American “lying diplomacy.” Hua said the “fundamental difference” between China and the U.S. is that Beijing does not seek to interfere in the domestic affairs of other countries, nor does it have any desire to. “There is a big drama around the election in the U.S., and we are already dazzled by it,” Hua added. “These games can be played by themselves, and China does not want to be involved.”

No matter who wins, the chances of an early thaw with Beijing are remote. In a dramatic political shift from just a few years ago, neither of America’s two main political parties, and neither of the presidential candidates, appears in a mood for that. Judging by President Donald Trump’s first term in office, his approach would be bilateral, a kind of mano-a-mano contest with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, deploying the full range of economic and political pressure tools to prize concessions from Beijing. His Democratic Party challenger, Joe Biden, has long favored a multilateral approach, rooted in the view that the U.S. can exert more influence and pressure in concert with international partners.

Navigating the U.S. rivalry with China, the world’s second-largest economy, will be a dauntingly difficult task for either of them. Over the past two decades Beijing has become a major player in world trade, investment, and financial markets. It has also been pouring enormous resources into high-technology research and development. Not that long ago, America’s foreign-policy establishment (including Joe Biden) was encouraging China’s economic rise, hoping that a China integrated into the world economy would become less authoritarian and more open to international cooperation. But even before Mr. Trump’s election in 2016, doubts were hardening. Barack Obama and then-Vice President Biden had become increasingly concerned by China’s intellectual property theft, restraints on market access, and anti-competitive state subsidies – as well as its military expansion in the South China Sea.

Hopes of liberalization have faded. Mr. Xi has tightened his hold on power and clamped down on dissent; earlier this year he effectively tore up the “one nation, two systems” agreement under which Britain returned Hong Kong to Chinese rule, launching a security crackdown on pro-democracy activists there. And then came the COVID-19 pandemic, originating in China and initially hidden from the outside world. China’s international reputation plummeted, especially once it had turned back the virus at home and launched a propaganda offensive criticizing Western nations’ response.

But an even more profound impact of the pandemic on U.S. politics was that it drove home America’s growing economic interdependence with the Chinese: a wide range of urgently needed protective equipment could be found only in China.

Washington has been leaning on other countries, especially traditional allies in Europe, to follow its lead and exclude the Chinese company from any involvement in their new 5G telecoms networks. And Mr. Trump’s sanctions might mean that Huawei would not even have the hardware it needs to build European 5G networks. A Biden administration would be unlikely to change Washington’s view of Huawei, if only because of a broad consensus in the American security community that the company could use a 5G role to steal information. But Mr. Biden has stressed that if the U.S. is to reduce its dependence on Chinese suppliers in key sectors, the country will have to invest in its own domestic research, innovation and production. With signs that European nations are also keen to build up capacity in firms nearer to home, like the Swedish firm Ericsson and Finland’s Nokia, a Biden administration would likely seek a coordinated approach among U.S. allies.

On trade, Mr. Biden seems increasingly to share Mr. Trump’s view of the need to take a tougher line against Chinese practices. Yet the likely shift would be away from using tariffs as a unilateral tool, in favor of a joint strategy with allies, both in Europe and Asia. Which approach would better manage and recalibrate ties with China remains a matter of intense partisan debate as polling day approaches. But as both parties frame the election as a critical choice for America’s future, the question of future U.S. policy toward Beijing is a major reason why the rest of the world is watching too.

Conclusion:

After going through many articles on the subject, and reading many quotes by various politicians on both sides and from China, the only consensus, is that there is no consensus. There doesn’t appear to be any unbiased opinions out there that point to China helping Biden win. Each side says the opposite. The Democrats say no and the Republicans say yes, While China categorically denies it. Even disenfranchised Chines deny that there is any collusion. There is also anecdotal evidence that points to the fact that China may not be any better with Biden. I am not sure if I believe it, but I always try to follow the evidence. I do believe that when you get past the media hype there is a bipartisan feeling of anger towards China in relation to their handling of the Coronavirus pandemic. So I don’t think that at least initially the democrats would be giving any freebies to China if Biden wins. I do believe that they would eventually cave into China at some point in time.

My gut is telling me that China is favoring Biden, if only because of all the money they pumped into Hunter Biden. I have always said if you want the truth, follow the money. I do know one thing, this article is begging for more updates. So, right now I am riding the fence. That is the best answer I can give at this time.
