Aging Gracefully and Living  Comfortably in Your Later Years-Preface

Preface

This book is the third in my series on living healthier. The first book was entitled “My Life as a Loser: A Never-Ending Battle to Lose Weight,” and the second book was entitled “Getting Old Really Sucks!” I am an Intensive Care Nurse with over 20 years of experience. I competed in endurance events such as Triathlons for 10 years and have studied exercise physiology. Exercise physiology is the science that examines the body’s response to physical activity. It involves understanding the acute and chronic adaptations to exercise, as well as the physiological changes that occur at the cellular level. Education, lifestyle intervention, and specific forms of exercise are utilized to rehabilitate and manage acute and chronic injuries and conditions. It is crucial for promoting healthier individuals and preventing chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. While I am not an exercise physiologist by profession, I am well-versed in its teachings.

I will draw on my healthcare experience to provide a comprehensive work on how to age more gracefully. Anyone who has read any of my books or articles in my blog “common-sense-in-america.com” knows that I am very thorough and utilize a copious amount of resources. I will also draw from my life experiences to provide not only a more humanistic but also a more humorous work. This book is not meant to be read from cover to cover. You can pick and choose which sections or chapters as needed,  to fit your interests or needs. It is also meant to be used as a resource that can be referred to from time to time as needed.  I hope you find it helpful and enjoyable.
