Was McCarthy Right About Communism and the Left?

I have written several articles on postings related to politicians. A list of links have been provided at bottom of this article for your convenience. This article will, however address different aspects on these politicians.

While reading the book A Cruel and Shocking Act by Philip Shenon, a book about the Assassination Of John Kennedy, Senator McCarthy came up. I started to think about the 1950’s McCarthyism. During this time, Senator McCarthy pretty much accused half the American population of Communism. Many play rights, screen writers and actors and actresses were accused of Communism. Hollywood. Quite a few politicians were also accused. McCarthy during his “hayday“was very powerful. The Red Scare had just started up. Everybody was terrified of Russia. So, for the better part of a decade, the general population was behind McCarthy. J. Edgar Hoover, the director of the FBI was more than happy to help Senator McCarthy with his investigations. The more mud he gathered on individuals, the more power he accumulated. Being accused of being a communist in the 1950’s could ruin your life and career at the very least and jail time at the other end of the spectrum. Eventually people became tired of all the hearings and uproar and fear of being accused for the simplest infractions. Neighbors reported on neighbors, even family members turned on each other. In 1959 McCarthy died, and McCarthyism died with it.

Back to my thoughts about McCarthyism, I am beginning to feel that he was not a total flake after all. Today a large number of Hollywood personalities are blatant Leftists, with feelings very close to Socialism and Communism. Most of the Democratic Party are in the far left, and the vast majority of the Press and Virtually all of the University System and most of the Tech Industry are leaning that way as well. All this Socialist behavior and activity had to have some starting place. It takes time to convert so many people to a different way of thinking. It therefore seems quite likely that there was indeed Socialist inroads being made in the 1950’s. To check out this theory, I went on line to see if anybody else had the same idea. In 2013 Diana West Wrote the book “The Secret Assault On Our Nation’s Character”. Steve Bannon Chief White House Strategist for Trump voiced the same opinion.

I am sure if McCarthy was alive today, he would be telling everyone “I told you so“.
