To gain an insight on why the Left is for open borders and unlimited immigration, you have to ask who it benefits? I discussed previously that high unemployment rates drive labor costs down, so it is great for companies. Labor is cheap and plentiful. Well the same holds true for immigrants. Why did they leave there countries to begin with? The answer primarily for work and poor living conditions. There may also be issues with persecution, religious, political or ethnic. Typically immigrants are willing to work for less pay, and are willing to work under poorer conditions. So companies benefits, who else benefits? The answer is the democrats, they like to keep there base dependent on them. Higher unemployment, greater poverty and poor education. People that are poor and uneducated are typically easier to control and manipulate. Finally the country that these immigrants left from also benefit. Their population is reduced, thereby lowering unemployment and the drain on their limited resources.
We know who it helps, now who does it hurt. It hurts any company or business that thrives when the economy is stronger. All of the service and entertainment industries do better when money is plentiful. All retail business. Likewise do better as well. It hurts the overall population, the overall quality of life is lower. The welfare system and the state and federal government bare the brunt of higher unemployment. It also hurts all high school and college graduates with huge debts, faced with fewer available jobs.
I am all for immigration, I am a third generation American. My great grandparents came from France. But all things have to be done in moderation. Even water and oxygen, basic components for life can be toxic taken in too large of a quantity. We have to control the number of immigrants, based on what the economy, job market and infrastructure can handle.
