End of Days?

I have written several postings related to Various topics including the military, Voting, the economy, religion and etc in America. A list of links have been provided at bottom of this article for your convenience. This article will, however address additional issues in these topics.

Are we coming to the end of days as the Bible predicts? I don’t believe we are but sometimes the events that are occurring today makes you wonder. I have included below a list of events that will occur when the end of days is near.

End of World Sign – PERILOUS TIMES:

Are we living in perilous times? There is no doubt about that. Let’s just take one example of what is happening today. There are uprisings all around the world, with people protesting and rioting and governments toppling. The people are starting to see the power they have if they get together. And this is a very dangerous situation and one that will lead to the image of the beast being formed, which will bring on the enforcement of the beast’s mark. And with the economy melting all around the world, with countries nearing bankruptcy, the world is becoming ripe for a one world currency, which will aid with enforcing the mark and stop those who refuse the mark from “buying and selling” (Rev.13).

End of World Sign – LOVERS OF PLEASURE MORE THAN GOD:

This sign of the end is powerful just on its own! Do we live in a world full of pleasure seekers? Most certainly. Again, to fulfill this end of world sign, we only need look at the professing Christian churches. A great majority of professing Christians are lovers of pleasure more than they love God. They fill their lives with television, partying, socializing, reading novels, playing games, wasting time on social networks like facebook, and God gets little of their time.

The films, tv programs and music that professing Christians are happy to listen to today is just shocking! There is no distinction between your average Christian and a worldly person today. Should Christians listen to secular music and watch all the garbage that they do? No, not at all.

The programs and films that are watched by professed Christians today are an abomination to God. Now, go back 50 years or more and this would not be the problem it is today, because life was much simpler back then, without all the worldly entertainment. How many Christian homes give time to worship God as a family everyday? Not too many I guess, because they are too busy watching their favorite tv program, or reading their favorite novel, or playing their favorite games. We certainly live in a pleasure seeking world. This sign of the last days is fulfilled in our generation.

End of World Sign – PEOPLE WILL BE COVETOUS:

Well, we certainly live in a covetous age, where people clamour after the latest and best things. And not only do we covet possessions, we also covet after other men and women, whether married or not. The majority of people today are seeking after worldly riches, rather than eternal heavenly riches. Again, this end of the world sign also applies to the churches of today. Just look at what the prosperity gospel is producing! Professing Christians just in it for earthly riches. Also, think about how many women are coveted and lusted after everyday, because of the tight, revealing clothing they wear these days. And not just on the streets, but in the churches also! And again, the television, internet, magazines, billboards, etc, causes us to covet and clamour after the latest things this world has to offer. No doubt we live in a covetous time like no other.

End of World Sign – PEOPLE WILL BE BOASTERS AND PROUD:

Pride was the original sin that caused Satan to fall from his exalted position in Heaven, and pride is the sin that the majority of people cherish in this world today. LOOK AT ME is the way people are today. Too proud to be humble before God and turn the other cheek to their fellow neighbour. Too proud to stop and help someone in need just in case others see them. And as mentioned above, the way people dress these days compared to times past is amazing! Tight, trendy, revealing clothes to make people look at them and like them. Driving the latest cars and wanting to live in the nicest homes. LOOK AT ME, I’ve made it in this world!

End of World Sign – CHILDREN DISOBEDIENT TO PARENTS:

Let me give you a quote from a newspaper in the UK after the riots there in August 2011 …

“You have a generation of kids now that don’t respect their parents or the police … When we were youngsters we were made to have respect for the olders. Now if an older was to slap a youth that kid is going to pick up a hammer.”

This is one of the many signs of the end of the world, and it is pointing clearly to our generation. The youths of today go about in gangs having little respect for their elders and parents, and pretty much little respect for anything, which this business man in Detroit will tell you. And why is that? Because society today teaches them that there is no God. They have no idea what Christ Jesus has done for them, and therefore they do not have any future. So really, it’s not surprising that they rebel!

End of World Sign – PEOPLE WILL BE UNTHANKFUL:

Many of us are unthankful today because we have been so conditioned by the world to just take things for granted. Just have a think about your daily life. Are you really thankful to God for the many blessings He has bestowed upon you? Do you thank Him for waking you up in the morning? For feeding you? For providing you with a job and income? Do you thank Him for His wonderful creation? And most of all, do you thank God everyday for giving us His Son Christ Jesus? Do you contemplate that amazing sacrifice He made? Now if Christians are unthankful, then what are those outside the faith like? We certainly live in a time of ungreatfulness. Spare a thought for those who DON’T have today! There will be some people reading this that have great troubles and difficulties in their lives. But you CAN be thankful. Thankful that God has promised us a future, if we believe in His Son Jesus Christ, and follow Him.

End of World Sign – PEOPLE WILL BE UNHOLY:

Now this sign of the end of the world is an amazing one. Do you know why? Because I only need to talk about professing Christians here. Go back just 50 years and you would find a world with Christians who were far more holy and humble than they are today. Many believe that we need not keep the ten commandments anymore, just as long as we “believe” in Jesus. And what does this lead to? A people who continue living in sin and being unholy.

Jude 1:4 …’For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.’

These men have certainly crept into the churches and as a result the churches are full of unconverted, unholy people today, who have turned the grace of God into a licence to sin! Much more so today than in times past. Churches today have become more like social places, theaters and concerts, rather than holy places of worship. Christians have lost the Bible truth about how to worship in Church.

Christians seem to think that they will be saved IN their sins, rather than Jesus saving them FROM their sins. There is little effort today being made in turning away from sin and living a holy life for God. And if this is the state of the majority of Christians, then what is the rest of the world like? Yes, this end of the world sign is being fulfilled today. We are sure living in the last days.

End of World Sign – PEOPLE WITHOUT NATURAL AFFECTION:

Another great sign of the end of the world! Just look at how homosexuality is being pushed and accepted around the world today. The picture on the right is just one of the many articles from the news today, showing that homosexuality is becoming the “norm”. And not just in the world, but in the churches too!

We are also now seeing churches accept ACTIVE homosexuals. And not only that, many churches are now placing these people in leadership positions! Homosexuality is being pushed through television also, with many programs portraying homosexuality as normal. This is all in complete disobedience to God’s clear Word … 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 …’Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.’

End of World Sign – DESPISERS OF THOSE THAT ARE GOOD:

We live in an age today where people will not take correction or rebuke for their sins. If you warn Christians for wrong doing, many of them will just say “stop judging me!” and will not take correction. Even though the Bible says that the Word of God is to be used for instruction, correction and rebuke.

2 Timothy 3:16 …’All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.’

This day and age, people are CRITICIZED for being pious. If you are seen to be a good, holy person, then the world will sneer at you, being labelled as a “goody two shoes”. The world is so full of sin today that it cannot handle people who are good. This Bible sign is applicable more for our day than any other before us, and shows we are living in the last days.

End of World Sign – PEOPLE WILL BE LOVERS OF THEMSELVES:

You will now see how Paul above in 2 Timothy is talking about our day. These signs of the last days are so clearly speaking about our generation. Do people love themselves today by putting themselves before God and other people? Most certainly. We seem to be more concerned about how we look on the outside, rather than how we look on the inside (our heart). Everything now is commercialized to the extreme to make people think about ME, ME, ME!. If you walked down the street just 50 years ago, you would have seen the majority of people dressed modestly in smart, humble clothing, covering their bodies. Today if you do the same you will see the majority of people dressed in tight revealing clothing to make themselves look “sexy”.

Today, the television, radio, newspapers, magazines and internet are full of adverts to try and lure us into buying the next best thing, to make us look better than the next person. Yes, this is certainly a sign for the time we live in. And what makes this sign appropriate more for our day is the fact that it applies to the majority of professing Christians also! The church is full of people who have no idea what it truly means to worship God, and think more of themselves than they do of God and other people. Just look at America! The majority of people there profess to be Christian. So why is it that there are thousands of people starving to death everyday? Because professing Christians are too busy with themselves to worry about the needy. And Satan has deceived the majority of professing Christians into thinking it is ok to spend the money that God has entrusted them with on THEMSELVES, rather than using it to help the poor and further God’s kingdom.

End of World Sign – A “FORM” OF GODLINESS ONLY:

Now this is an end time sign pointing purely to Christians. And is it fulfilled in our day? Yes. The Christian churches are FULL of people who only have a “form” of Godliness. How many Christians actually LIVE the faith that they proclaim? How many LIVE according to the way laid out in the Bible? Not many, which is why Jesus said … “will I find faith when I return?” (Luke 18:8). And which is why He said that only “few” would find the narrow way, as the majority will head down the broad way to destruction. Why? Because they loved the world more than they loved God!

Yes, there may be “revivals” going on around the world today. But many of them only have that “form” of Godliness and are not filled with the true Spirit of God. Anyone can rent a stadium. Put on an elaborate “Christian” rock band on stage. Say “nice” things to make people feel good. Draw many people through the doors and call it “revival”. But do you know what TRUE revival is? Turning away from sin and living holy lives for God. The so called revivals happening today are nothing more than worldly excitement.

The Book of Revelation in the New Testament has the literal title in Greek, the “Apocalypse of John.” The word apocalypse means revelation. That which is uncovered. It comes from the Greek word which literally means to pull the lid off something. So that which is revealed is central to the way that apocalyptic literature works. … The word “apocalypse” refers to a genre of literature like the Book of Revelation itself.

8 Signs We’re in the Last Days:

1) There will be Wars and Rumors of Wars; Nation will Rise Against Nation. It cannot be disputed that the world has seen an unusual Wars and Rumors of Warsnumber of wars in the last 150 years. The first and second world wars killed millions. But since 1945 there have been well over 200 armed conflicts in which uncounted millions have died. There is still the constant threat of conflict and even of thermonuclear warfare hanging over the world with North Korea, China, Iran, Russia, the United States and many others all saber rattling with threats. But Jesus tells us not to be alarmed by this.

2) Earthquakes in various places. There are two main fault lines running around the globe where the majority of all earthquakes have traditionally taken place. But there have been an increasing number of earthquakes in all sorts of unusual places. Horrific tsunamis caused by these earthquakes have risen alarmingly in the last few years. If you have any doubt about how many earthquakes there are, take a quick look at this video of 2011 earthquakes. You can click ahead to March 2011 when the Fukushima earth occurred so you can see how powerful that one was.

3) Famines and plagues (see also Luke 21:11). Famines are caused by droughts and they are dramatically increasing in the world. Water shortages are becoming one of the biggest issues facing the world’s increasing population. There have been many plagues over the years including the black death, cholera, the Spanish influenza outbreak which killed 20 million in the last century. And now we have the nuclear “plague” coming from Fukushima. I firmly believe that the pollution that is currently pouring out from the stricken reactor in Japan is the beginning of a fulfillment of prophecy that the sea will die. See Fukushima God’s Judgment?

The PlagueWhile many, many famines and plagues have already attacked the world, they are just the beginning of the birth pangs. Ebola is now spreading worldwide ad there is no known cure or treatment whatsoever. According to the Book of Revelation, they will get much, much worse.

4) Persecution and murder of believers. Right now, the rate at which Christians are being killed each year is about one hundred thousand! No other religious or racial group have more followers slaughtered than Christianity. Recently, the number of believers being slaughtered in Moslem countries has started to rise dramatically. But Jesus stated it will get much worse. With ISIS now growing rapidly in Iraq and elsewhere, and they slaughter any Christian believers that they find, it seems highly likely that the number of believers will go up dramatically. Wait until the US Declares Martial Law and that number will explode.

5) A great falling away of Christians. Because the world has gotten so erotic along with the Internet, believers everywhere are falling away from their faith. Also, as persecution begins to get worse, an even greater number of Christians will leave the faith. In places like the US there is already a great falling away. Christians used to be the majority in the US, now they are definitely in the minority. There has been a movement away from biblical Christianity.

Great Falling Away of BelieversMany churches have grown corrupt with greed centered messages. Europe is full of huge monolithic church structures that house people who no longer believe in the true gospel. As the end times progresses, true Christians will become the enemy of the state and many other groups. Jesus states that many who fall away and will hate and betray each other. Its not a pretty picture for believers to look forward to.

6) Many false messiahs and false prophets. Within the US a lot of denominational and independent churches have moved towards presenting heretical messages. So many churches no longer teach repentance; instead, they tend to focus on making sinners feel comfortable. There are many modern-day false prophets whose teaching have corrupted the message of the true Church. Keep in mind that false prophets don’t just teach error. They mix heresy with the truth and that’s how they deceive true believers.

In the last few years many who have claimed to be the Messiah. Sun Myung Moon, Jose Luis de Jesus Miranda, Baha’u’llah, Jim Jones, Father Divine (George Baker), Wayne Bent, and L. Ron Hubbard to name a few. These men have claimed to be Jesus Christ or the devil (or both) and have founded their own religions.

7) Because of the increase in lawlessness the love of most people will grow cold. Within the United States, the age of civility is over. Professional racial bigots are constantly fomenting conflict between the races by accusing others of racism. Police have turned lawless, breaking Police Brutality Increasinginto houses without warrants, pulling out weapons if anyone videotapes their actions and even killing unarmed civilians with immunity. As our world continues to polarize, good men are now becoming more fearful of doing good works because they feel the backlash of so many groups. In all the years that I’ve lived, I’ve never seen people’s hearts growing so cold.

8) The gospel will be preached in the world to all nations. There are Christian organizations who have kept track of all the nations and ethnic groups within the world and almost every area has had some kind of gospel presentation. Certainly this sign can be considered fulfilled even though many still have not heard. As the population has dramatically exploded in the last few years, it becomes obviously that billions of people have never personally heard the gospel message.

Conclusion:

I have read through numerous articles, most of them were too out there to even mention. The ones I have referenced seem to be the most thoughtful and realistic. Nobody can deny that we have not had a bad year. 2020 is going to go down as one of the worst years in the 21st century. We have had a world wide pandemic with hundreds of thousands of deaths, it would have been in the millions if not for modern medicine. We have had a world wide shutdown of the economy with resulting recession. We have had major state-wide forest fires. We have already had more hurricane force storms than in the last 20 years. Several states have experienced hurricane force winds that have devastated crops and farms. We have experienced riots and looting the likes of which we haven’t seen in over 50 years. Now we have probably the most tumultuous election in our history as a country to look forward to. The only reason I don’t believe that we are experiencing the end of days is for one event. In all of the scenarios listed, Israel is at the center of all the conflict. For the firs time in decades Israel is now in the middle of peaceful relationships with Muslim countries. With President Trump being the most unlikely of saviors. President Trump is all that is saving us from a very bleak future. It kind of reminds me of the movie the Seventh Sign with Demi Moore. When Demi has to die to save the world. Well in our story, President Trump needs to win the 2020 presidential election. Then we need to keep the Trumps in Power for a few more terms after that to weed out the corruption in Washington DC. I know, it is a tall order. But what do we have to lose but our country, world and future?

What is the Book of Revelation?

The Book of Revelation in the New Testament has the literal title in Greek, the “Apocalypse of John.” The word apocalypse means revelation. That which is uncovered. It comes from the Greek word which literally means to pull the lid off something. So that which is revealed is central to the way that apocalyptic literature works. … The word “apocalypse” refers to a genre of literature like the Book of Revelation itself.

What is the structure of the Book of Revelation?

One of the difficulties for people now who try to read the Book of Revelation is that it’s not written as a kind of linear story. This is especially difficult for people who try to use it as a prediction of historical events in the future. It doesn’t work so that things at the beginning of the story are necessarily in order one after another leading to the end of the story. The way the Book of Revelation is actually written is as a series of kind of unfolding revelations, each one of which gets to something deeper in the story. Basically there are three sections after the letters to the seven churches. The book spans three literary genres: the epistolary, the apocalyptic, and the prophetic. He then describes a series of prophetic visions, including of figures such as the Seven-Headed Dragon, the Serpent, and the Beast, which culminate in the Second Coming of Jesus.

The first section is in chapters 5 through 11, and in this we have John being shown a series of visions symbolized by the seven seals and the seven trumpets. But if we kind of look at how these things are working, each one is a box within a box, it’s sometimes really thought of that way, as a series of Chinese boxes. You open the seals and when you get to the sixth seal things are looking really bad and when you get to the seventh seal we find that the seventh seal is actually the seven trumpets and we start all over again going deeper and deeper into the story. Then when we get to the seventh trumpet in chapter 11, the trumpet blows and heaven opens and you see the revelation of the dragon and the woman. … So chapters 12 through 14, the woman and the dragon and the beast, really is centerpiece of the story. And it is the underlying cosmic drama that John is showing, which reveals the principals, the combatants upon which the rest of the story is being played out.

Then as we go from chapters 15 onward, we’re told that those who are on the side of God and the angels, over against those who are on the side of the dragon and the beast, these combatants will come to a final battle and another series of seven plagues and another series of seven responses that will carry out the story to its natural end. So in the final analysis then the sevens that are opened up at the beginning of the story and the sevens that are opened up at the end of the story are really the same point, now able to be seen through a different understanding because of the central revelation of the dragon and the woman.

What’s not in the Book of Revelation?

Sometimes people are surprised that when they actually read the Book of Revelation of what’s not there. Things that are typically associated with end time prophecies and typical language actually is not found in Revelation at all. … Notably there’s no reference whatsoever to the Antichrist. That terminology only shows up in two places in the entire New Testament. One time in First John and one time in the Second John, but not in the Book of Revelation itself. The other terminology that [is] sometimes thought to be in Revelation is the Rapture, that is, the snatching away of Christians just at the last moment before the Tribulation occurs. That, likewise, is not actually in the Book of Revelation itself, that actually comes from a passage in First Thessalonians. And so what we have to realize is that in some interpretations of the Book of Revelation–in fact most of them–the interpretation is created by bringing things into the Book of Revelation, into its scheme, that are not actually there and reading them as a kind of a jigsaw puzzle of eschatology and last judgment.

How has the Book of Revelation been interpreted through Christian history?

The complexity of the structure of the book and the difficulty of interpreting it is something that many Christians have tried to deal with throughout the subsequent centuries. In part, it is maybe even more problematic because the expectations of John of an imminent overthrow of the Roman Empire within only three and a half years didn’t come to pass. The Roman Empire lasted for a great deal longer, so how do we understand this? How did Christians think about it, in the light of the fact that this claims to be a revelation from God himself given to John … ?

Essentially we can think about the different ways that this book has been interpreted in Christian history as breaking out into two basic categories. First, symbolic interpretations [in which] all of the images, all of the elements in the story of John are merely symbols of the experiences of the Christian Church throughout its history, but with no specific implication for time. This is actually the view that will be taken by Saint Augustine, that there is nothing predicted in absolute historical terms anywhere in the Book of Revelation; it is all mere symbolism. It is also one of the common modes of interpretation that is popular among many Christians today. …

The other mode of interpretation is what we might call a literalist mode, where it is assumed that at least some events in the Book of Revelation are literal historical events that have played themselves out in human history, or will do so. There are basically three types of this literalist reading of the book. The first is what we might call the continuous historical literalism. It assumes that some events described in the Book of Revelation actually took place in John’s day, but that other events will carry on in future history down to some later period of time, in fact, down even to the end of the world. And so they would look at, let’s say, current events of their own day, whether it’s in the period of the Crusades or in the period of the Protestant Reformation or even down into the nineteenth and twentieth century, as being fulfillment of what John predicted way back at the end of the first century. This is a mode of interpretation that we find quite a lot in the Middle Ages and in the Reformation period. It’s somewhat less used these days, but it is still around and it tends to look at, especially, the end of the world, as the kind of final event that’s described in the Book of Revelation and also the thousand year reign, when Christ will rule, as another key and very literal experience. …

Another mode of literalist interpretation is what is referred to as the futurist school. The futurist would say that nothing in the Book of Revelation past chapter 4 has yet been fulfilled. Everything is coming in the future, and most of it is in the final days before the eschaton itself, before the return of Christ and before the beginning of a literal thousand year reign on earth. So this school of interpretation sees all of the later material as something that we’re watching for. What’s been very important about this particular school is it looks ahead for signs so that we know when the clock will begin ticking. …

And then the third kind of literalist interpretation is one that says that all the events in the Book of Revelation are literally historically true, but that almost all of them have been completed in the past, either in John’s day or within the early years of Christian history, with the possible exception of the end of the world itself. Now it’s this last interpretation where most scholarship on the New Testament in early Christian history actually is located. Almost all the scholars would say that either John was talking explicitly about his own days and had a very limited expectation of the future, or that the Revelation of John was predicting events, basically down to the time of Constantine and nothing beyond except for an expectation of the end of the world.

What is the central message of the Book of Revelation?

With a book like the Book of Revelation, you will inevitably have several central messages depending on the angle from which you look at them. Some people see it primarily as a political statement, where the central message is resistance to tyranny, as exemplified in that case by the power of Rome. Other people would see it as a more spiritual book where the emphasis is on the end product, where everybody gets to sing like the angels in heaven and where detachment from this world is the central point of it. I suppose you would have to say that the central message encompasses both of these. That on the one hand there is there a rather terrifying vision of this world, as a place that is brutal, where savage powers are let loose, but also then that sees this world in perspective, where the powers of this world are passing away, and I suppose I would say at the end of that is the basic message of the book. That the powers of this world, no matter how terrifying they may be, are passing away and that in the end righteousness and justice will prevail.

When some people hear the word prophetic, they think it means something in the future, what’s going to happen next.

Prophecy and apocalypticism share a hope on the future, and theologically speaking, in the twentieth century, many mainstream or liberal pastors and theologians have argued that prophecy is not primarily prediction of the future, it’s much more an advocacy of certain moral positions. For example social justice for the poor. But I think that prediction of the future is an important element in prophecy. … That’s not all they are, but that’s an important element.

And John’s Apocalypse is in some sense prophetic in the usual sense of the word.

John’s Apocalypse also relates to the future, but not a future historical event. … The Book of Revelation has come to be read as prophesying the events of the end of history. A general resurrection, a general judgment and a new age.

SEVEN SEALS REVEAL OUR FUTURE

The well-known “four horsemen of the apocalypse” symbolize the devastation of much of planet Earth, and the death of billions of human beings. You need to understand the sequence of these awesome prophetic milestones, if you hope to prepare yourself and your loved ones for what is ahead. The Bible reveals that six major prophetic events, including the famous “four horsemen,” lead up to the battle of Armageddon. That battle, as we will see, is in fact a part of the prophesied “seventh seal.” What are these mysterious, prophesied seven seals—and how can we understand their meaning? The seven seals reveal prophetic events that lie just ahead of us. In Revelation 5, we read about a scroll sealed with seven seals. John begins to weep when at first “no one” is found worthy to open the scroll. Then: “But one of the elders said to me, ‘Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals'” (v. 5). The Lion of the tribe of Judah is Jesus Christ—He begins to open the scroll sealed with seven seals. In Revelation 6, we read the description of six of those seals. The first four seals are known as the four horsemen of the Apocalypse. The Apostle John describes the Lamb—Jesus Christ—opening the first seal. “Now I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals; and I heard one of the four living creatures saying with a voice like thunder, ‘Come and see.’ And I looked, and behold, a white horse. He who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer” (vv. 1–2).

The second seal reveals a horseman riding a red horse, having the power to take peace away from Earth. The third seal presents a rider on a black horse, representing a scarcity of food and resulting famine. The fourth seal shows a rider on a pale horse, whose name is Death. As we have seen, these four horsemen have power over one-fourth of our planet to kill “with sword, with hunger, with death, and by the beasts of the earth” (Revelation 6:8). Jesus also spoke of the pestilence that normally follows a famine. We see in Matthew 24 that Jesus confirmed the meaning of these seals when He spoke of:

  • Deceptive religion (Matthew 24:4)—the first seal, or the first of the four horsemen
  • Wars (Matthew 24:6–7)—the second seal, or the second of the four horsemen
  • Famines (Matthew 24:7)—the third seal, or the third of the four horsemen
  • Pestilences (Matthew 24:7)—the fourth seal, or the fourth of the four horsemen
  • Tribulation, religious persecution and martyrdom (Matthew 24:9–10)—the fifth seal.

FRAMEWORK FOR PROPHECY

We need to understand the time sequence leading up to the Christ’s second coming. There are three major prophetic milestones leading up to His return:

  • The Great Tribulation
  • The Heavenly Signs
  • The Day of the Lord

These three events cover a period of about three-and-a-half years. There are more than 30 prophecies in your Bible referring to the Day of the Lord. How long is the Day of the Lord? Two scriptures give us the answer. Speaking of God’s judgments on the nations, Isaiah writes, “For it is the day of the Lord’s vengeance, the year of recompense for the cause of Zion” (Isaiah 34:8). Isaiah 63:4 also shows that the Day of the Lord in end-time prophecy, the time preceding Christ’s return, is a period of one year! Three major milestones lead up to the second coming of Christ. The Great Tribulation lasts for about two-and-a-half years. Next, the Heavenly Signs shock people all over the world. The Heavenly Signs introduce the Day of the Lord. The Day of the Lord is the prophetic time period of one year leading up to Christ’s return. So there are four ongoing events during these three-and-a-half years: Jerusalem is trodden down by the Gentiles, the two witnesses prophesy, the church is nourished in the wilderness, and the Beast power dominates for 42 months.
