I have written several articles on postings related to politics. A list of links have been provided at bottom of this article for your convenience. This article will, however address different aspects on these political events.
This article is going to be a commentary about our two party system and how our government interacts with the rest of the world. Have you ever wondered how our political system affects the rest of the world. Over the last 200 plus years our country has been through a lot of changes. I guess this is a good thing , because it allows us to grow and adapt to the changing times. What remains constant is our Constitution. For the most part we have had a two party system throughout our history. Each party has had different agendas and beliefs. With the exception of the 1850s to 1880s, both parties were pretty close in their policies. It did not really matter that much which party was in the oval office. We had presidents with socialist beliefs during both world wars and yet we managed to keep our country intact and were also able to bale out the rest of the world at the same time.
However, in the last 20 or so years there has been a major shift in policies and objectives between the two parties. Until Trump came into office, most of the presidents have been war hawks, with the exception of Jimmy Carter. We have pretty much been engaged constantly in some military engagement overseas. President Trump has tried to pull us out of these costly and basically wasteful endeavours. He has worked on negotiations and economic plans to attain peace. It has worked, for the first time in a president’s term of office we have not become embroiled in a new military engagement. He has also taken us out of costly partnerships with other countries, where we were the only ones basically bearing the costs. However, under our new leadership, the policies will totally change. Biden believes in globalism and open borders. Basically a free for all. However, somebody has to do the work, nothing is for free. How do you you decide who does the work and bears the expense in an open society? That is a good question, one that nobody has been able to satisfactorily answer since the advent of Socialism and Communism and now Globalism. When everybody is treated equally and everything is free, there is no incentive to excel and to produce quality products. A person that is only 10% efficient at work makes the same as a person who is 100% efficient. So where is the incentive to try harder?
With open borders and communal property how are services provided? If everybody believed the same and was pure of heart and hard working, and was not greedy and so on, we would be living in a utopia. None of these things would be an issue, because everybody would be willing to work together for the betterment of society. But we don’t live in such a society. Most people are not like this. So what do we do? Good question, scholars have been pondering this matter for over two thousand years ever since recorded history. Nobody has come up with a satisfactory answer, and they never will. Because we can’t change human nature. You can brainwash people to believe in different things, but their nature always remains the same.
Over the years our political parties have grown apart in their beliefs. The Republicans, under President Trump are now pro workers and for America first, while the Democrats are elitist, liberal, socialist and globalists. Can you have a greater swing between the two? I don’t think so. If we were a small third world country nobody else in the world would really care what we do. But we are not that country, we are currently the only super power in the world and what we do or think affects the rest of the world.
So it is in the world’s and our best interest to be consistent in our foreign policies. we however are not. With our unique political system our policy direction can change every 4 years, each time a new president is elected. We have been fairly lucky in that we haven’t had these swings too often. But it is going to occur again this year. We had 8 years of Obama (democrat-liberal-progressive) 4 years of Trump (conservative, America first) ?years of Biden ( socialist-liberal-globalist).
We think we have it bad in America, what about the rest of the world. We are like a drunken pilot trying to land a plane in a crowded airport. The airport has no idea which run-way we are going to land on. We are also like a 200lb schizophrenic bully in a fifth grade class. Everybody is afraid of us, and nobody knows what to expect from us. It is no wonder why other countries try to take advantage of us, they are just trying to survive and somehow stay under our radar. We have to better than this. We first have to stop the incessant propaganda against our country. If you hate this country, go somewhere else. Too many people who have been the beneficiary of our system, are now trying to change it after they have made their fortune. Too may people think that they are entitled. Too many people once they attain positions of power, forget their roots. There is a famous phrase, “power tends to corrupts, while absolute power corrupts absolutely.” Too many people are so full of hate , that they just want to destroy everything. Society cannot exist in a state of chaos. Societies only thrive in a state of order.
We as a people and a country, have to stop tying to destroy our past, for those that forget the mistakes of their past are damned to repeat them. We have to learn from our mistakes, and stop trying to re-invent the wheel. It works just fine the way it is. Concentrate on fixing what is broken, their is plenty to keep us busy.
For better or worse we are the big brother in this world, we are expected to stick up for the weak. If we fail and allow the powers of evil to win, the rest of the world will fall. It is inevitable.
